The Scorned Heiress's Hidden Empire (by Jade Quinn) novel Chapter 337

Chapter 337

That was when Chris had lost his sight. It had been almost five years ago.

Their three-year marriage had passed quickly.

But when Winter thought back to that time, it felt like it belonged to another lifetime.

That day, she had made him a cup of tea and sat on the couch in his room, flipping through a magazine. It was one he had read before the accident. He used to read everything, from all kinds of subjects, and he remembered almost everything he read.

It was a travel magazine.

She flipped through it absentmindedly until her eyes stopped on one page. It described a remote place with a lake so clear it looked like a mirror. The whole place seemed unreal, almost like something out of a dream.

As she spoke, her fingers brushed over the photo on the page. Then Chris’s hand reached over. His fingers were still warm from the teacup as they lightly touched the back of her/hand.

She froze and pulled her hand away at once.

His fingertips moved across the page as if tracing the image. His tone was unreadable. “You like it?”

Thankfully, he couldn’t see her. He couldn’t see the flush on her face or how flustered she felt.

Her eyes still lit up. “”Even if I do, it’s not like it could ever be mine.”

The memory ended there.

Chris had already caught her wrist and was leading her toward a yacht by the shore.

Winter turned to look back at the lake. Sunlight shimmered across the surface. A sharp ache rose in her chest, but
