Chapter 346
“I want to go back to Liono City for a meal.’
“It’s too late to make it back for lunch,” Chris said calmly, as if it were a serious point.
Winter finally looked up from her magazine and glanced at him.
He was still shirtless. As he rubbed his hair dry, the muscles across his chest, abs, and arms shifted with the movement. Droplets that hadn’t been wiped away slid down along the sharp lines of his torso and disappeared into the waistband of his pants.
The soaked fabric clung tightly.
It was hard not to notice.
She looked away. “Dinner’s fine.”
He watched her. “If we go back to Liono City, we won’t make it back here for dinner.”
The magazine in her hands crumpled slightly. “Who said I’m coming back?”
So that was it.
He wasn’t saying it was too far to go back. He was saying he didn’t plan to let her leave.
Chris held the towel in front of him. His damp hair was swept back, revealing his forehead and making his features look even sharper.
He stepped closer, bent down, and took the crumpled magazine from her hand.
From where he stood, his gaze brushed over her without meaning to, catching the curve of her chest and her cleavage. A subtle scent lingered.
The magazine bent sharply in his grip before he tossed it aside.
Then he reached out. His fingers wrapped around her wrist and pulled her up from the sofa.
“There’s an outdoor range on the island. After we eat and the rain clears, I’ll take you shooting.”
The moment he mentioned shooting, her palm throbbed faintly.
She remembered that day at Westbury. The way he had fired at her, knocking the gun out of her hand.
A cold wave surged through her chest.
She looked at him. “Can you tell me what you really brought me here for?”
He met her gaze. Something flickered in his eyes.
His lips pressed together.
For a moment, she thought he would ignore her again.
But this time, he answered.
