The Scorned Heiress's Hidden Empire (by Jade Quinn) novel Chapter 368

Chapter 368

Even when Zac had made it clear from the beginning that he wanted to pursue her, Chris had still held back when he went after him.

Later, when the Davis family and the Zeller family teamed up against Xander Corporation, Chris still hadn’t touched Eugene.

It wasn’t hard to guess why Chris had finally made a move now.

It was because of Winter.

Winter wasn’t especially surprised. When Chris wanted to ruin someone, he would never handle it politely.

William added, “Zac is getting engaged the day after tomorrow. I heard he and his fiancée went in for health screenings today.”

Winter only said, “Oh. I saw the news about his engagement.”

“You don’t feel anything about it?” William leaned back in his seat. “You don’t even have to guess. Zac is being forced into it. The person he likes is you.”

The words “being forced into it” made Winter think of Chris.

Back then, Chris had also been “forced” to marry her.

In the end, he had fooled her with a fake marriage certificate.

For a moment, she drifted off.

By the time she came back to herself, the car was already heading toward her apartment.

She was about to say something when she suddenly spotted a Maybach parked up ahead.

Zion had no choice but to stop the car.

Winter recognized it at once.

It was Zac’s car.

“He’s here for you.” William saw Zac step out of the car as well and asked, “Do you want to see him?”

As soon as he finished speaking, Winter’s phone rang.

The caller ID showed Zac’s name.

William glanced at her screen. “If you don’t want to see him, then we won’t. If he tries to block us, I’ll ram his car out of the way,”

Winter knew William meant it. He had even dared to crash into Chris’s car on the road.

Beside the car across from them, Zac stood with his phone in his hand, watching the unanswered call screen. Then he looked up at their car.

It had been less than a month, but Zac looked even thinner than he had during the holidays. The weather was warm today, somewhere in the high sixties, yet he was wearing only a thin white shirt. When the wind blew, the fabric pressed against his waist, making him look even leaner.

The call ended automatically. Winter still didn’t answer.
