The last time, he had used that same account to publicly acknowledge Winter as his wife.
This time, he had used it to issue a statement cutting all ties with her.
Skyla looked at the account on the screen. It was Chris’s account, and half an hour earlier, he had posted a clarification statement.
She skimmed the rest of the text, but her eyes locked on the final sentence.
“Winter Scott and I no longer have any relationship.”
Skyla suddenly laughed.
Excited, she reached out and hugged the tablet to her chest, reading the statement over and over again.
Chris had really kept his word.
Back then, Chris had publicly revealed Winter’s identity and placed her in the position of Mrs. Xander.
Now, he had personally posted a statement clarifying that he no longer had any relationship with Winter.
She wondered how Winter would react when she saw this news.
But even as Skyla felt thrilled, alarm bells went off in her mind.
She remembered the way Chris had looked at her earlier. Afraid that he had created a fake page to fool her, she immediately tapped into the comments under the statement.
“So Winter was never Mrs. Xander?”
“Then what was that official announcement last time supposed to mean?”
“Were they just messing with us?”
“Rich family drama is such a mess.”
“I saw Winter going to court before. Don’t tell me they got divorced and Winter was the one who dumped Chris.”
“You’re overthinking it. Why couldn’t it be Chris who dumped Winter?”
“Obviously not. I have a friend who works at the TV station, and they heard that Winter was the one who wanted to divorce Chris. She’s the one who didn’t want him.”
Skyla couldn’t understand how people online thought these days. She had assumed the comment section would be full of people mocking and ridiculing Winter.
But then again, she had no way to arrange paid comments or control the narrative right now. Winter’s public image had always been positive, and people’s impression of her was generally good.
Still, this was a statement Chris had personally posted.
Skyla smiled in satisfaction and said, “Chris, I won’t make you regret doing this. Trust me. I love you more than Winter does. I’m a better match for you than she is.”

“Can you unlock these shackles first? Keeping me locked up like this is making me miserable. It’s not good for my recovery.”
Chris lit a cigarette. His tone was flat and indifferent, without the slightest shift in emotion.
“That wasn’t part of the deal you made with me. Either you tell me where the antidote is, or I take back the statement. You should know exactly what that would mean.”
