The Scorned Heiress's Hidden Empire (by Jade Quinn) novel Chapter 40

Natalie’s eyes sharpened. Without a second thought, she twisted her body and veered off, cutting diagonally in front of the out–of–control figure.

Blondie, who had just come down the slope, saw this and felt his heart leap into his throat. “Talia!”

Diving in at that angle and speed was insanely risky.

Natalie’s eyes narrowed with sharp focus, and at the very last second, she twisted her body, leaning in close to the tumbling figure.

Rather than a direct collision, in that split–second as they crossed paths, she used the tip of her snowboard to flick the other person’s out–of–control board, guiding it just enough.

With that single move, she redirected them away from the metal pile, and instead, they slammed into a thick snowbank nearby with a heavy thud. Sure, it was a rough landing, but at least the worst was avoided.

But Natalie was thrown off balance by the force of their brief contact.

Instead of fighting it, she went with the momentum, falling backward and sideways, shielding her vulnerable spots as she slid a long way across the snow, finally stopping when she crashed into a padded barrier.

The slope fell silent for a moment and then was filled with relieved gasps and excited exclamations.

“Oh, my god. That was awesome,” someone shouted.

“Epic move. What level is she on?” another person exclaimed.

“Are they alright? Go help them,” someone else called out.

The rescue crew and ski staff hurried over, swarming around the scene.

The newbie who’d crashed into the snowbank was a young girl, her face pale with fright. She was sore all over and shaken

up, but thankfully, she didn’t have any serious injuries. With the staff’s help, she managed to get to her feet.

Natalie pushed herself to her feet with the help of her ski poles and brushed the snow from her silver suit. She flexed her arms and legs, making sure nothing was hurt, though she looked a little worse for wear.

Blondie came scrambling over, his voice all shaky. “Are you okay? Did you get hurt anywhere? You scared the hell out of

me” He circled around Natalie, wanting to make sure she was alright, but he didn’t dare lay a finger on her.

“I’m fine,” Natalie said, shoving Blondie’s face away as he got too close. She glanced over at the still–shaken girl. “Is she Alright?”

“Fm okay. Thank you. Seriously, thank you so much.” The girl’s eyes were red as she kept thanking Natalie. “If it wasn’t for you, i definitely would’ve crashed into that pile…”

Natalie just nodded, not saying anything else. She briefly explained what happened to the ski manager, who rushed over

and then waved off ts suggestion to get checked out at the infirmary.

Just as she was about to leave, a calm and swift figure dressed in black glided over, pulling off a crisp, flawless stop right

next to her

Everyone turned to look. The newcomer was decked out in pure black, standing tall and striking. Even with his goggles on, you could still feel the cold, intimidating vibe and the unmistakable air of luxury he carried.

“Are you okay?” He pulled off his goggles. Beneath them was a strikingly handsome face, his deep–set eyes fixed on Natalie with unmistakable tension. It was Henry.

Natalie met his gaze, her expression steady as ever. She shook her head, “Yeah.”

Henry’s eyes quickly scanned her for any signs of injury. Once he saw she was alright, the tight line of his lips relaxed just a

bit.

Henry shot the ski manager a cold, commanding look. “What the hell happened? How could you let a guest get into such a dangerous mess? Where were your safety protocols?”

The manager nearly had a meltdown when he saw Henry. ‘Mr. Pierce, here in person? Why today, of all days?‘ In all the

years this place had been open, nothing like this had ever happened.
