Zac sat on the sofa while a nurse drew his blood.

Just then, the hospital room door opened. Dominic walked in and stopped short when he saw the scene. A second Later, he shut the door behind him, unable to hide the excitement and relief on his face.

He strode over to Zac, then turned to glance at Chris.

After that, he let out a long, heavy breath.

Richie finally had a chance.

No one in the room spoke.

After the blood draw was finished, the nurse pressed a cotton swab against the inside of Zac’s elbow to stop the bleeding.

“I can do it myself,” Zac said, taking the swab from her.

The nurse gathered her things and left the room.

“Does it hurt? Want me to blow on it for you?” Dominic leaned closer to Zac’s arm.

Zac pressed his other hand against Dominic’s face and pushed him back. His tone was calm. “No. Breath carries bacteria.”

“You’re disgusted by me now?”

Dominic hadn’t actually planned to blow on it. The room was just too quiet, and the atmosphere was too tense. Standing there felt awkward, so he had only been trying to say something.

After Zac pushed him away, Dominic walked over to the bed instead. He looked at Chris’s bloodless face and sighed silently.

Great. Richie’s situation finally had a little hope, and now he had to worry about this man again.

“Can the blood they just drew be used to save the kid directly?” Dominic asked. He didn’t really understand how Richie’s treatment worked.

“No.” Zac explained it to him in the simplest terms possible.

Dominic understood. “All right. Then let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Let’s just hope nothing goes wrong.”

Zac looked at Chris, who was leaning against the headboard with his

Logically, now that they had found a possible bone marrow match for Richie, Chris should have shown some sign

of relief. Even though he had always been hard to read, he shouldn’t have looked this weighed down.

If he looked like this, it could only be because of Winter.

“When are you planning to tell Winnie?” Zac asked.

The man on the bed slowly opened his eyes and frowned slightly.
