Chapter 478
After wiping Richie’s face, Winter tenderly stroked his head.
“Sweetheart, Mommy knows you’ve been trying so hard and going through so moch. Can we try just one more time? That time Mommy and… Daddy will be right here with you.”
Richie rubbed his little head against Winter’s palmh
“Da Dada. Mama…”
“That’s right. You can do this, baby.”
His soft, babyish voice came again.
“Do… dis.”
Winter burst into tearful laughter, her heart melting completely.
Outside the isolation room, Chris stood in a black dress shirt, watching the monitor as Winter gently muzzled Richie’s head
She was strong-willed and stubborn by nature, but deep down, there had always been a gentleness in her. Now that she was a mother, that gentleness was beginning to show. Every movement she made seemed softer than before.
“Aren’t you going in?” Dominic asked.
What was the point of watching through a screen? Wasn’t he just torturing himself?
Chris’s fingers paused in front of the monitor. Then he turned it off.
“If I go in, she won’t be happy.”
Dominic wasn’t used to hearing that kind of self-awareness from Chris.
So Winter really had gotten to him. For once, he almost sounded human.
Then Dominic saw Chris turn away.
Was he leaving?
Dominic quickly followed. Only then did he realize Chris had changed out of his hospital gown.
Dominic knew how serious Chris’s injuries were. There was no way he could be discharged today. He had been not be forcing himself to do something reckless again.
“Where are you going?” Dominic asked, staying close behind him.
Gavin was completely loyal to Chris, but he couldn’t control him. Someone had to keep an eye on him,
Chris’s expression was cool and unreadable.
“Coffee.”
