Chapter 492
So even though Dominic understood how much Chris had quietly carried alone all these years, he didn’? dare show that sympathy in front of him.
These days, Winter was the only person Chris would lower his pride for.
In front of everyone else, he still cared far too much about his dignity. His pride was terrifyingly strong
After leaving Zac’s house, Dominic’s car headed toward Liono City’s pharmaceutical research institute.
Earlier, Chris had asked him to check whether there had been anything unusual among the things Mrs. Xander Sr. had used before she died. This was the place Dominic had sent them for testing.
He could promise Chris the results were reliable because the person helping him was Lily.
Lily worked at the institute. She had a PhD in pharmacology and dealt with drugs every day. Chris had once warned Dominic not to go too far, or one day Lily might poison him with something.
Dominic wasn’t worried.
Lily would never have the heart to poison him.
Before he turned nineteen, Lily had always treated him like a younger brother. Although they were not related by blood, she had been adopted from an orphanage by his parents, and she had always been good to him.
They were only one year apart, but he had never called her his sister. Every time they met, he simply called her Lily.
Until he forced their relationship past the point of no return.
After that, “Sis” became a private nickname he used only to provoke and tease her.
The elevator arrived.
Dominic pulled his drifting thoughts back, stepped inside, and pressed the button for Lily’s lab floor.
Outsiders were not allowed in this part of the institute, but Dominic was the head of the Lynch family, and he was Lily’s family. The security guards downstairs had seen him countless times. The moment they saw him, they stood respectfully and escorted him to the elevator.
Lily had been buried in the lab for the past two days and hadn’t gone home.
She was probably still angry about what he had done in front of her ex that day.
At the thought, Dominic let out a soft laugh and stepped out of the elevator.
But before he even reached Lily’s lab, he saw her at the far end of the hallway.
She was wearing a white lab coat and holding her phone to her ear. Her voice was firm, but there was a
