The Scorned Heiress's Hidden Empire (by Jade Quinn) novel Chapter 63

“We invited you here? How come none of us know about it?” Victor said, spreading his hands. He figured Natalie was just

here to cause trouble.

“Quit messing around. Why would we ever invite in a young girl like you?” Quentin chimed in, clearly not believing a word. He motioned to the nurse at the door to escort Natalie out.

Just as the nurse was about to speak, Natalie spoke up again, “You need Evergarden’s help.”

The words hit, and for a heartbeat, the room went silent. Then skepticism began to ripple through the crowd.

Quentin paused for a moment and then laughed out loud. “Evergarden? Young lady, do you even know what that is? Are you seriously claiming you’re from Evergarden?”

Avery shook her head, a bit helpless. “Girl, I get it. Young people want to make a splash, but this isn’t the place. We’re in a critical care room, not here to play games.”

Charles spoke cautiously, “You say you’re with Evergarden. Can you prove it?”

Natalie shot back, “My expertise.”

“Expertise?” Charles looked at her like he couldn’t believe what he was hearing, his face dead serious.

“It’s not that we don’t trust you, but we can’t risk the patient. And you’re too young. How could you possibly be from Evergarden? If something goes wrong, who’s going to answer for it?”

“Yeah, that’s right,” the other experts chimed in.

The experts nearby started murmuring to each other.

“Kids these days have some nerve,” one of them muttered.

“Why pretend to be from Evergarden of all places?” another scoffed.

“Come on, get her out. We’ve got important stuff to do,” someone else said impatiently.

Natalie furrowed her brows. “If you don’t trust me, there’s nothing I can do. But the patient can’t afford to wait.”

Right after she spoke, the nurse stepped forward, about to tell Natalie to leave.

Just then, another nurse peeked in at the door. “Mr. Bennett, there’s a man downstairs here to deliver something. He said he was from Evergarden.”

Her words dropped like a bombshell, instantly electrifying the atmosphere in the conference room.

Quentin’s eyes lit up, and he jumped to his feet. “A man from Evergarden? Quick, let him in.” He thought, I can’t believe Evergarden actually accepted the case. Eleanor might really be saved

Avery pushed up her glasses and let out a sigh, shaking her head. “Young people these days… Oh well.”

Charles waved his hand. “Get him up here, now.”

At Charles‘ word, the nurse dashed off.

“Now this is gonna be good. The real Evergarden guy and the fake girl are about to face off right here,” someone chuckled.

“Told you. There’s no way a young girl like her is from Evergarden,” another scoffed.

“Let’s see what excuse she comes up with now,” someone else snickered.

Natalie remained standing, her face completely expressionless. She pulled a chair from behind and sat down confidently, as if she belonged there.

That move only irritated the others in the room even more, but no one said a word. After all, the Evergarden guy was about to arrive.

Everyone was a bit nervous and didn’t bother with her, figuring they’d just wait and see what she’d say once the real Evergarden guy showed up.

Two minutes later, the conference room door opened. A young man in plain clothes stepped in, carrying a small case. He was tall and lean, with sharp, composed features, and an understated scholarly presence. A faint herbal scent wafted from him.

Quentin immediately stepped forward, all smiles. “Hello. Are you from Evergarden?”

Without paying the others any mind, Larkin headed straight for Natalie with the small case in hand. Everyone watched in shock as he placed the small case by Natalie’s feet and bowed slightly to her. “Ms. Gardener, everything you wanted is -here.“–
