Everyone in the banquet hall stared at Natalie, looking puzzled by what she was doing.

Isabelle felt uneasy for no apparent reason. “What are you doing, Natalie?”

“Shh! I’m making a call,” Natalie replied, holding up her phone with a playful hint of annoyance.

Isabelle was stumped by Natalie’s attitude, but with Andrew’s intimidating presence right next to her, sh kept quiet.

The video call connected.

On the screen appeared a woman with a relaxed, refined face.

She looked to be in her forties, dressed in a loose, off–white loungewear set, her hair casually draped ove her shoulders. She held a glass of red wine and lounged on a sofa, looking so at ease it was as if she’d just

“Natalie, sweetheart, what made you call me out of the blue?”

She smiled warmly, her gaze locked on Natalie’s beautiful face on the screen.

Natalie smiled. “Elaine, I’m at Avery’s birthday banquet right now.”

She shifted the camera to the side so Elaine could get a good look at the place.

Elaine raised an eyebrow, taking in the glitzy decorations and all the guests dressed to the nines.

She took a sip of her wine and grinned. “Did you drop off the gift for me?”

Natalie nodded and turned the camera toward Avery.

“Yep, I did. Avery, say hi,” Natalie said.

Avery was momentarily taken aback, then gave a polite nod to the camera, her attitude very courteous.

“Miss Lilian, it’s been a while. Thanks for going to all the trouble and for sending a gift. Avery said.

Elaine waved her hand. “Avery, you don’t need to be so formal. I still remember how you took care of my late husband back then. Since I’m stuck overseas and couldn’t come myself, I had Natalie deliver the gift

for me.”

Avery quickly replied, “Elaine, you’re so thoughtful”

The two exchanged a few polite words, and the atmosphere between them was warm and friendly.

The guests nearby caught a glimpse of Elaine’s face on the screen and instantly recognized her.

“Wait, isn’t that Elaine Lilian? She’s a renowned collector and jewelry appraiser in the country!”
