The Secret Heirs of the Lycan King (Bella and scott) novel Chapter 110

Chapter 110

Bella

I snapped my head up. Stop him?I said. But this is insane.

Maya’s eyes filled with tears again. I’m doing everything I can to save you, me and our family’s reputation. Why don’t you trust me? Do you realize the magnitude of this situation, Bella? Or are you still so naive? You have practically gone there behind mine and Scott’s back and had sex with your old boyfriend, and there is evidence of it! You have ruined us, and yet you refuse to take action. Are you doing this only to come back at me? What have I done to you?

Stop it, Maya!I snapped on the verge of crying. You are—

Scott cut me off, and the coldness in his voice made me flinch. What does he want?he asked.

Scott?

He raised a hand to stop me. Tell us Maya, what does Craig want?

Maya drew in a shaky breath. He has always been after money, she answered. He says that if you give him fifty million, he would delete the video.

I felt the room tilt again. Fifty million was not a request; it was blackmail. I knew what these two were doing now. This is pure blackmail,” I rasped. This video is not even true!

Maya slapped the table hard, tears coming out again. Enough, Bella! You’ve enjoyed and tasted both men. And now you’re denying? How can you be so shameless? Are you now happy that you have successfully ruined my life?

Don’t lie. Shut up!I barked. I’ll fucking kill him!

Maya let out a loud cry, wincing and looked back at Scott. All I know is if Craig gets that money, he’ll keep quiet. If he doesn’t, he’ll release the video,” she explained. Then she looked at me with suspicion. And if Craig dies before the wedding, he’s already arranged it to be released. It will be so bad that not only will the blame fall on you, you will be behind the bars. She wiped her tears. Scott, I’m fed up with this innocent act of Bella. I really want to leave this all behind me and start anew. I’ll take my parents somewhere far away from all of you. This place has only given me bad memories.”

Heavy silence fell in the room, and I felt like I was the reason for everyone’s misery.

Maya continued, Honestly, Craig wants to trap you either way. I just want to stop him, save our reputation in this society, and save people’s lives. And for that fifty million is nothing. I hope you understand. That money won’t come to me.

Scott leaned back slowly. The calm on his face frightened me more than his rage. Craig doesn’t want to trap us. He’s set a trap already,” he murmured.

I tightened my grip on the desk edge as nausea crawled up my throat. “Scott,” I said. “Pleaseyou know me. You know I wouldn’t-

But the moment got filled with Maya’s sobs. The true danger wasn’t Maya. It was my fear of Scott losing his trust in me. My chest tightened until it became hard to breathe. I rushed to the bathroom and vomited. After that I heaved for a while and then rinsed my mouth. As I stared at myself in the mirror, all I could see was a pale woman with messed up hair and red eyes.

When I came back into Scott’s office, the air felt heavier than before. Scott was still behind his desk. He sat rigidly, his jaw tight, eyes fixed on Maya, like he was forcing his mind to stay calm while something violent paced inside him.

Maya was still there too, perched in the chair opposite him. She was crying quietly. The moment she noticed me, she stood up quickly, wiping her cheeks with the back of her hand. I’ll leave you both to talk,” she muttered, adjusting her purse strap over her shoulder. Her gaze flicked to Scott and then to me again. Just remember, your wedding is within a week. If you don’t want everything to fall apart, you need to arrange Craig’s money.

She took two steps toward the door, but Scott’s voice stopped her. I want to meet Craig.”

Maya paused. She glanced back over her shoulder. Craig won’t meet you,” she replied. He’s scared for his life. He’s gone somewhere unknown. I don’t know where he is.”

Scott didn’t blink. Then how are you in contact with him?

I’m the only point of contact, she explained quickly. He calls me. He doesn’t take calls from anyone else. I can’t call him either, so don’t ask. If you push, he’ll disappear completely.

Scott gave her a tight nod and Maya slipped out of the office.

The door clicked shut behind her, and the silence felt like a noose around my neck. I walked to the nearest chair and slumped into it. I stared at Scott, trying to reach him through the bond, but all I felt was a storm of heat and rage.

Then, without warning, he grabbed a glass paperweight from his desk and threw it across the room with a curse. It hit the wall with a violent crack, shattering into pieces that scattered across the floor. I flinched. My hands started shaking in fear. His eyes flashed gold, and I knew that his Lycan wanted to come out.

Scott,” I whispered, my throat tight. That video is not true. It’s not real.

He pushed back from his desk so abruptly the chair scraped the floor. For a second I thought he would finally turn to me, demand an explanation, anything. Instead, he reached for his coat. He shrugged it on with sharp movements.

Scott, please,I tried again, leaning forward in the chair, my voice trembling now because I could feel the panic rising. Look at me. You know me. You know I wouldn’t-

He didn’t answer or glance at me. He stormed out of the office without a single word.

I sat frozen for a moment, staring at the spot where he had been, trying to understand how a few minutes could turn everything upside down. My mind kept circling back to Maya’s face, to the way she had cried just enough to look wounded while crafting her words around that fake video. The thing was that I just didn’t know how to prove that the video was fake.

The bond between Scott and me felt strained, like a rope pulled too tight. I pressed a hand to my chest, trying to breathe through the sudden ache there, trying not to crumble, but tears were already rolling down my cheeks.

That was when Troy walked in. Just in time to see Scott disappearing down the corridor. Troy’s expression tightened, and he hurried a few steps after him.

Your MajestyScott!Troy called, his voice firm, urgent. Wait.

Scott didn’t stop.

He came inside and his gaze landed on the shattered glass on the floor, then on me. He crossed the room fast, his face full of concern. Bella,” he asked. What happened? Why does he look like he’s about to tear the world apart?

I wiped my cheeks quickly, but it was useless. More tears kept coming, hot and humiliating.

You should ask Scott!

Ask what?Troy said, his eyes going wide.

I drew a shaky breath and told him everything.

Troy’s jaw clenched as he listened, but he didn’t interrupt.

It feels like our whole foundation is shaking,I admitted, my voice cracking.
