I was sitting on the sofa in our living room with my tablet in my hands. I was reading the latest update on the case against Maya. The next court date was in one week. Scott had already told me the same thing last night, but I still wanted to read it myself. I liked to know what was happening. It made me feel more in control, especially when my life had been full of surprises lately.

As I scrolled, I saw the list of evidence again. Messages, bank records, CCTV clips, statements. Everything was there in black and white. Some days it still shocked me how far Maya had gone. She had not just hated me. She had tried to damage my life, and she had done it with cold planning. Every time I thought about it, a shudder ran down my spine and I felt disgusted.

I also remembered that day in court when Lucy tried to guilt trip me. She had spoken like she was some kind of saint who had raised me with love. She talked about sacrifice and family as if she had not spent years trying to control me and take what belonged to me. It made me sick. She was not even ashamed. She just changed her story when her plans failed. She cried when she needed sympathy and turned cruel when she didn’t get it.

I didn’t feel guilty anymore.

Maya would pay for what she had done.

I was so focused on reading that I didn’t notice Dr. Julie had arrived until she was already near me with her bag open. “Your Majesty,” she bowed to me. She was wearing a simple blouse and trousers, and her glasses sat low on her nose as she took out her equipment.

I smiled at her. Until now I hadn’t talked to her about Millie. Scott had said that it was a topic Julie avoided, and I respected those boundaries.

“Alright,” she said, sounding gentle. “Let’s check you.”

I put the tablet down on the cushion beside me and lifted my arm for her. She checked my blood pressure first and then my pulse. She moved quietly, professionally. After that she checked my temperature and asked me a few questions.

“Any dizziness?” she asked.

“Sometimes,” I admitted. “Mostly when I feel the baby is trying to make his presence too hard.”

She smiled. “That’s normal. He’s a Lycan’s pup, but your vitals look good. Everything is fine.”

I relaxed a little. Julie made me feel safe. She never scared me with unnecessary warnings. She just told me the truth and moved on.

A few minutes later, Millie walked in with two cups of coffee in her hands. She looked bright and happy, like she had just heard good news. Julie avoided her.

Millic beamed. “It’s my second anniversary.”

“That’s nice,” I said, surprised. “I didn’t know you and Troy were married for two years.”

Julie’s expression became stiff.

I stared at Millie for a second, then I laughed too. “Millie, that’s not an anniversary. That’s just a memory.”

“It counts,” she insisted, still smiling. “Our real wedding anniversary is next month. But today is special too.”

I nodded, amused. “Alright, fine. So what’s your plan?”

While we were talking, I noticed Julie quietly packing her equipment back into her bag. She didn’t join the conversation at all. Her face looked tight. She didn’t look angry exactly, but she looked uncomfortable. Like she did not like being in the same room as Millie. Like Millie’s presence bothered her. I saw pain in her eyes. She tried to hide it, but it was there. It was the kind of pain people carry when they are pretending to be fine.

Julie zipped her bag and stood. “Everything is fine, Your Majesty,” she said to me again, though she had already said it once. “Call if you need anything.”

“Thank you,” I replied.

She nodded and walked out without saying a single word to Millie. Millie took a sip of her coffee and didn’t react, still smiling to herself. I watched the door after Julie left and felt confused. Taking a deep breath in, I turned my attention back to Millie’s excitement.

“So,” I said, lifting my coffee. “You’re really counting the day you met Troy.”

Millie grinned. “Of course. That day changed my life.”

“Cute,” I chuckled.

Millie laughed again. “Wait until next month. I want a grand celebration. Dinner, music, everything. And I want you there.”

I hesitated. “Me?”

“Yes,” she said firmly. “You and the King. You have to come to Silver Mane. I want you to be part of it.”

I smiled, but then I sighed and rubbed my stomach. “I don’t know how much party I can handle.”

Millie looked at my belly and softened. “How are you feeling?”

I rolled my eyes. “Great. That makes me feel so comforted.”

Millie giggled and then watched me carefully. “But you’re okay, right?”

“Yes,” I said. “I’m okay. Just tired. I want to go and buy new clothes, but can’t! I hate going out.”

Millie looked surprised. “Why?”

“Because the paparazzi follows me everywhere.”

Millie’s face dropped. “Oh.”

“They chase me like bats from hell,” I said, annoyed. “I can’t even step outside without someone taking pictures or shouting questions.”

Millie sat down beside me, listening.

“We couldn’t even go on our honeymoon because of my pregnancy,” I lamented. “And now I need new clothes because none of mine fit properly anymore. I have to go to the market, but I keep delaying it because I’m scared, they’ll chase me again.”

Millie didn’t reply right away. She stared into her coffee as if she was thinking hard. Then her eyes lit up. “I have an idea,” she said.

I raised an eyebrow. “What?”
