The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 540

Roderick Hamilton looked to be in his fifties, but his overall demeanor exuded the steady wisdom of a seasoned elder.

His hair was entirely white, as was the neat beard he maintained.

As Vivian watched him, his gaze happened to sweep in her direction.

Their eyes met.

Roderick smiled warmly and offered a slight nod in greeting.

Vivian frowned slightly. Before she could overthink it, the man beside her took her hand and led her forward.

"Silas?" she asked softly. "Where are we going?"

"To introduce you."

Sensing her hesitation, Silas paused and looked back at her. "You don't want to meet him?"

Vivian looked at his handsome face. It felt as though if she simply said no, he really would drop it.

She shook her head. "Let's go."

She was actually quite curious to see exactly what kind of VIP could command such respect from Silas.

Navigating smoothly through the crowd, Roderick, who had been speaking with someone else, turned his head at the exact right moment. He beamed warmly at Silas. "Silas, it's been far too long."

He opened his arms, and Silas met him with a brief, light embrace.

Though it was a Western custom, it was the only hug of its kind at the entire event, proving just how close their relationship was.

Silas wore a polite, humble smile. "Uncle Roderick."

"Look at you..."

Roderick looked him up and down, his eyes brimming with approval and pride. "The last time I saw you, you were just a teenager. A reckless kid. Just a few years later, and look at you now... A truly outstanding man!"

"You're too kind, Uncle Roderick."

Silas replied with quiet confidence, neither arrogant nor overly deferential. "You aren't in a rush to leave this time, are you? Let me properly host you."

"If the opportunity arises, absolutely."
