Chapter 60

I gazed at Alex my head still spinning from the mysterious words he had just uttered. He said “They’re here” and all I could think about was what they
might be.
The room was tense and I found myself holding my breath in anticipation of an explanation. Alex smiled one of those comforting but slightly too mysterious.
smiles for my taste before I could ask him any more questions.
He straightened his shirt got up and strode to the door. My curiosity was greatly stoked and my heart began to beat a little quicker. Who was coming what was happening and why was Alex behaving so calmly? He arrived at the door and without hesitation swung it open.
Three stunning women entered the room and I watched with my mind racing. They all had an instant presence. The first lady exuded confidence and elegance with her tall stature long dark hair and sharp features. With her blond hair pulled back into a stylish ponytail the second exuded a softer more
approachable vibe.
The third appeared as though she had stepped out of a high–end fashion magazine with her vivid red hair and forward–thinking sense of style. The women glided in rather than simply walking in. They appeared to be on a mission because of their deliberate and controlled steps. Each of them had something with them such as a huge makeup kit in one womans hands or a large clothes trolley in another.
The air felt lighter almost electric just by her presence even though the third seemed to be carrying nothing. I was stunned and blinked not knowing what to say or do. I wanted to ask Alex who they were and why they were here but before I could say anything he moved forward and said hello to the women in a
silky voice.
Alex stated in a casual yet purposeful tone “These are the ladies I mentioned.”
He looked at me steadily as he turned. “These women are here to assist you. They’re going to change the way you look. They are the designers instructors and makeup artists for my wife.”
For a brief moment I froze as the force of his words struck me like a wave. His spouses. My mind began to put the pieces together: makeup artist? Designers? Teachers? Their goal was to win me over. to change who I am.
“You see” Alex went on “they’re going to help you adopt my wifes appearance–her confidence and self–assurance. They will teach you social skills how to walk and a lot more. All the things you require to embrace this new self. A self–sufficient version with all the associated grace and strength.”
All of the women turned to smile at me as I stared at them. The way they held themselves as if they had done this a hundred times before had a professional undertone despite their friendly and welcoming facial expressions. I felt a strange sense of calm because they appeared to know exactly what they were doing.
The first woman said softly but confidently “Hello Ava.” She moved forward and nodded to me. “I’m Monica and I’ll be doing your makeup today. We will design a look that is ideal for you one that highlights your inner strength while also reflecting your personality.”
“I’m Clara and I’ll be your fashion designer and stylist” said the second woman with a smile. “Every time you put something on I’ll make sure your wardrobe reflects the new you and gives you a boost of confidence.
the one with the striking red hair–came forward last. “I’ll be your teacher, my name is Sophia. I will With a genuine and bright smile the third woman teach you the subtleties of posture how to walk how to hold yourself and everything else you need to project confidence when you enter a scant.”
