Chapter 62
Following breakfast, I experienced a surge of fresh vitality. The burden of the previous few days was still very much present but something about today-
what Alex had in store for me–made it seem like a new beginning.
i had showered allowing the warm water to remove some of the emotional weight that was holding me back in addition to the physical filth from the past.
Although I was unsure of what to anticipate I was prepared for whatever this new chapter held. The women were already in the bedroom quietly getting ready when I returned. Monica, Clara and Sophia all moved professionally coordinating their motions as if they had practiced this a thousand times.
There was a sense of purpose anticipation and something else I couldnt quite put my finger on in the room. With his arms folded Alex watched me intently from the doorway. Although he had warm expectant eyes there was more going on. Although I was unable to solve it I felt both anxious and in control
As I entered Monica grinned and looked at me right away. She gave a nod to the chair facing the mirror. “Ava take a seat. First lets talk about your makeng
I complied sitting down and giving Alex one last look before focusing on the procedure in front of me. The large makeup kit included brushes palettes and all the other supplies required to achieve a perfect look. Earth tones a hint of gold and deep red hues made up the palette Monica saw when she opened it.
I could tell right away that she had a clear idea of what she wanted to accomplish. Monica said “Close your eyes gently. Following my instructions” she
started putting on a light yet smooth base foundation.

skin and I was in awe of the way her hands moved. She moved quickly but her deliberate strokes gave me the impression that she was creating a plan or a
vision specifically for me.
Then the eyes. To create a warm smoky effect Monica applied a delicate golden shimmer to my eyelids and blended it into a rich deep brown. She created the ideal cat–eye flick by applying a thin line of eyeliner along my upper lash line and I hardly recognized the face in the mirror. The next step was mascara
which darkened my lashes and gave my eyes a pop I hadnt seen in a long time.
I looked in the mirror at Alex. His face remained the same but there was something about the way his eyes lingered on me that made me feel both seen and
vulnerable. Clara had already spread out several dresses on the bed while Monica treated my face. Every one of them was more beautiful than the last.
The sunlight that came in through the window caught the fabrics which shimmered in the gentle light. I wasnt sure which of the sleek fitted gowns with
exquisite lines and detailed embellishments that immediately drew my attention, should I try them first?
Ever perceptive Clara grinned when she saw my hesitation. “We can build after we start simple. I promise that you will look stunning in all of the outfits we
have selected Ava.”
In an effort to calm the nerves that were starting to show I nodded. Even though I had no idea what to anticipate I could feel the excitement building in may
