Chapter 240 Rotting Under The Moon
RYKER
The moment the full moon rose in the sky, my knees gave out.
“AAAAAA-!” A guttural scream tore from my throat as agony seared through every inch of my body.
“Alpha!” Percy dropped to his knees beside me, keeping a cautious distance, his eyes wide with horror as he looked at my skin.
Groaning through the pain, I forced my gaze down, and hissed. My flesh was decaying before my eyes. “Fuck…why is it rotting so fast?” My hand was nothing but blackened flesh, and the rot was spreading up my arm.
Percy’s voice trembled. “It’s getting worse. This has never happened before. Alpha Ronan’s red aura, it must be responsible. Ever since it touched you, your wolf’s healing ability has completely shut down. And now you-”
I shot him a glare that cut him off instantly. The mention of that red aura made my skull pound, my mind darken. My wolf snarled, clawing for control. Percy lowered his head in submission.
“I think I fucking know who he is…” I growled, lifting my gaze to the moon. My vision blurred red. “Violet eyes. Red aura. My enemy…he has to be the Dread Lord.”
Percy sweated even more.
I clenched my fists, glaring at the moon. “And he’s after Seraphina.”
When the rot began to spread to my other hand, Percy panicked. “We’re almost there, Alpha. Let’s get inside quickly before the full moon makes it worse.”
I raised my bloodshot eyes toward the massive stone doors ahead. They were only fifty meters away, yet my body felt like it was collapsing in on itself. I’d made it this far after leaving the Academy, but those last fifty meters felt like crossing a damn sea. Still, I had to move. I had to get away from the moon before it devoured me whole.
Gritting my teeth, I pushed myself up. Each step was torture. And then, I felt it.
A pulse. A vibration that cut through the pain like lightning.
My head snapped toward the moon, my heart thundering. “Blood Petal…” The words left me in a whisper.
Percy froze. “Blood Petal?” His eyes followed my gaze, widening as he felt it too. “Blood Petal has finally shown up, Alpha!”
“Seraphina…” My heartbeat quickened, and a feral smile twisted my lips. “You finally

bloomed.”
Biting down on my lip, I glanced at my rotting flesh, and suddenly, the pain didn’t matter anymore.
I stepped toward the door, my body burning under the moonlight.
“I’ll come to pluck you, my little flower,” I whispered darkly. “Wait for me…”
THIRD–PERSON POINT OF VIEW
“WHAT DO YOU FUCKING MEAN YOU CANNOT FIND SERAPHINA?” Elder Milton screamed, sounding half–mad as the remaining wizards–tasked with keeping every hindrance away during the Blood Petal full–moon ritual–cowered in the background. Twenty–four hours had passed, and even through their magic there was no trace of Seraphina. These were his secret wizards, hidden from everyone’s knowledge.
“The magic used by those who stole her is different from ours, Elder Milton,” one of them answered, voice trembling. “We tried to trace it, but we can’t. It seems like magic, but it doesn’t feel like magic. It’s confusing for us. Our theory is that they didn’t simply appear from the ground–her scream and energy summoned them. I know it sounds absurd, but you saw how, in the name of the Blood Petal, that man opened the portal. We need time-
“STOP GIVING ME EXCUSES!” Milton cut him off, furious. “I don’t fucking care who those men were. The only thing I care about is the Blood Petal that was stolen from right under my nose. If you cannot find her, put better equipped wizards on the search. Search every crack and crevice if you have to. Because if we don’t find her before she turns twenty–one, then-”
“Then what, Elder Milton?” The door slammed open and Finn’s voice sliced through the room, sending a chill down Milton’s spine.
All the wizards snapped to attention and lowered their heads. Milton’s face blanched. This meeting, held behind the pretense of a routine Council convening, had been meant to be kept hidden. Finn’s sudden arrival shook him to his core.
Finn stepped into the room and asked in a low, controlled tone, “Why do you need to find her before she turns twenty–one, Elder Milton?”
Milton swallowed hard, stammering, “I–I don’t know what you mean, Alpha…”
Before Milton could finish, Finn grabbed him by the hair and slammed him across the table onto the floor.
“AHHH!” the old wolf howled as his back cracked, and moments later he found himself being dragged along the line of wizards.
“Alpha… Alpha…I’m sorry! Alpha!!!” Milton screamed, panic tearing through his voice as
blood trickled from his scalp.
