**Chapter 242: Love And Lies**

**SERAPHINA**

“The Elders from the King’s Council performed a ritual designed to awaken the dormant essence within you,” Silas articulated, his voice steady yet tinged with an urgency that sent a shiver racing down my spine. “Under the full moon’s gaze, they provoked you, forcing you into an emotional frenzy while targeting you with silver arrows. The Blood Petal, which lay dormant within, stirred and awakened.”

My mouth fell open, disbelief crashing over me like a frigid wave. Surely, the bizarre incantations of those wizards had stirred something deep within me, but there was no conceivable way I could be… “I-I’m not the Blood Petal…” I stammered, shaking my head vehemently, desperate to dispel the horror that loomed over me like a dark cloud. My thoughts raced back to the chilling tales of the Blood Petal—the flower that had claimed Ronan’s mother and countless she-wolves in its deadly embrace. The Blood Petal was a harbinger of doom, and yet here I stood, just a mere werewolf.

“The mark of the white petal between your brows tells a different story,” Silas’s words sliced through my chaotic thoughts like a knife, sharp and unforgiving.

Panic surged within me, constricting my breath as my heart raced like a wild drum. Silas’s dark eyes bore into mine with a relentless intensity, mirroring my shock. And there it was—the faint, glowing mark nestled between my brows, undeniable and terrifying.

A sense of dread clawed at my chest, squeezing tighter with every passing second.

“No…” The word escaped my lips, soaked in horror. A chill spread through my limbs like poison, paralyzing me. I raised my hand, frantically trying to erase the mark as if it were merely a smudge of ink. How could I possibly be the Blood Petal? I was Seraphina, not some cursed flower. Nothing about this revelation made any sense at all.

“It won’t disappear. It is now a part of you,” Silas murmured softly, almost sympathetically, a tone that only deepened my despair.

“It’s a lie,” I hissed, narrowing my gaze as I glared at him with all the defiance I could muster. “I refuse to accept this nonsense. This tattoo… it’s something you did! You’re trying to manipulate me. I’m leaving. I’m going back to Ronan.”

“You mean the man who has deceived you about everything?” Silas rose slowly from the ground, his eyes locking onto mine with an intensity that quickened my pulse.

My heart raced, and I felt a flicker of doubt creeping in. “Ronan did not lie to me.”

“Then look at this.” He unfurled a set of papers from behind him, the edges crisp and worn, and I hesitated, uncertainty gnawing at me. “What is that?”

“The truth about your soulmate,” he replied, his tone deceptively calm, as if he held the key to my entire existence in his hands.

His words ignited a fire of anger within me. “I don’t need to uncover the truth about my mate from a stranger, especially not from someone who kidnapped me! I trust my mate, and no amount of paper can shake my faith in him!” I growled, my voice rising with indignation, fueled by a desperate need to protect what I believed was ours.

“Then what are you afraid of? Why not take a moment to see if you can truly trust him?” he challenged, his gaze unwavering, piercing through my defenses like an arrow aimed at my heart.

I clenched my fists, feeling the weight of his challenge like a heavy stone pressing down on my chest. He was questioning my trust, my bond with Ronan. If I refused to look at the documents, it would appear as if I was afraid. With a surge of defiance, I snatched the papers from him. But as my eyes skimmed over the text, the ground beneath me felt like it was crumbling away.

These papers detailed Ronan and the pack he hailed from.

Silas’s voice resonated, low and firm, “There is no Alpha in this realm by the name of Ronan Volkstane. The true Alpha, Odric Volkstane, of the genuine Volkstane bloodline, perished years ago along with his entire pack. The one who is your soulmate… is the Dread Lord.”

My mind went blank, a void opening up within me, swallowing my thoughts whole. The family tree of Alpha Odric showed no son named Ronan; only two daughters were listed. On top of that, there were photographs depicting the slaughter of their pack. Everyone was gone. My hand trembled so violently that I struggled to hold onto the papers.

“This can’t be true,” I found myself whispering, almost pleading with the universe to intervene. “These papers and photos are fabricated. Ronan is the son of the Southern Alpha. That pack still exists and rules. Ronan has not lied to me. He is…” My voice faltered as Silas presented me with the photo of Alpha Odric and his entire pack.

“Where is your Ronan in this picture?” he asked, his tone chilling, slicing through my defenses like a blade.

The photo depicted the Alpha, the Luna, and two young girls beside them, a relic from the past. The entire pack was present, yet Ronan was conspicuously absent.

“Yes, there is an Alpha ruling in the southern realm, but he is an imposter. He is not truly of the Volkstane bloodline. Your soulmate has deceived you about everything. He is…”
