Chapter 394 She Passed Out
Just then, a woman in a business suit walked up quickly–the store’s client manager, Raige Hubbard.

She recognized Melissa immediately and broke into a warm, practiced smile. “Mrs. Harper–it’s been a while since we’ve seen you. Why didn’t you bring Ms. Elsie Harper with you today?”
“Elsie’s at her studio,” Melissa answered naturally.
It was obvious–she and Elsie were the regulars here.
Paige’s curious gaze then landed on Riley, who had been standing there quietly. She looked confused. “And this is…”
Melissa’s expression went stiff for a second. She hesitated, then gave a vague explanation. “Oh, this is… a distant relative. She’s visiting from out of town. Wants to pick up some gifts for friends.”
Paige’s warm, eager demeanor cooled noticeably.
She immediately categorized Riley as one of those poor relatives coming to mooch. The look she gave Riley now carried a faint hint of condescension. She casually waved over a regular sales associate and said dismissively, “Show this lady around.”
Then she turned back to Melissa with a much friendlier attitude. “We just received a few limited edition bags. Would you like to have some coffee in the VIP room while I bring them out for you?”
Melissa seemed to realize something was wrong just as Riley was about to be left behind.
She hurried over to Riley and lowered her voice, afraid Riley might get the wrong idea. “Riley, don’t misunderstand. This was actually your father’s–idea. He said… the Harper family hasn’t officially announced your identity yet. If everyone finds out, people outside will start speculating. It could affect the company’s stock price.”
Riley’s face stayed completely blank.
She gave a flat reply. “Oh. No problem.”
Melissa looked at her–impossible to read, impossible to get through to–muttered something under her breath, then decided to save face and followed Paige into the lavish VIP room.
The young sales associate left behind watched her big client get whisked away by Paige, leaving her with apoor relative in plain clothes. She didn’t even bother keeping up the fake smile.
She trailed behind Riley with obvious reluctance, not even giving basic product introductions.
Riley wasn’t the type to push for attention where it wasn’t offered.
She stopped walking. Her cold eyes swept over the salesgirl, who looked like she was about to explode from impatience. Riley voice was chilly. “Never mind. Don’t follow me. I’ll look around somewhere else.”
Then she turned and walked out without looking back–leaving all that luxury and snobbery behind.
“Broke loser,” the salesgirl muttered under her breath, watching Riley leave. “Probably never even worn our brand. What’s with the
attitude?”
Away from that uncomfortable store, Riley wandered through the mall.

Eventually, she stopped in front of a shop that looked old–fashioned and artistic–handicrafts.

Inside, the shelves were filled with delicate handmade items. Each one had care and creativity poured into it. They felt warmer than those mass–produced luxury goods.
She carefully picked out two elegant decorative pieces.
At checkout, the clerk apologized and said these fragile items would take some time to wrap properly.
“No problem. Take your time.” Riley nodded and sat down at a coffee table by the window.
The clerk kindly brought her a cup of coffee.
The smell of coffee filled the air. Outside, shoppers flowed by. No more Melissa’s loud, dramatic voice, Riley felt perfectly content.
She took a sip of coffee.
What’s going on with Melissa today? Why did she insist on coming? And why all that weird talk?
