Chapter 446 Don’t See Any Reason to Keep Him
Zavier waved it off. “Not much. Logan here isn’t happy about being let go. Says your call was too harsh.*
The words weren’t even cold before Noah jumped in, his face instantly rearranged into a smile. “Yes, Riley, I get it. You’re new, and you want to set a tone. That’s natural. But Logan’s been here for years. He’s put in the work. He’s a straight shooter-no bad intentions, just says what’s on his mind a little too bluntly sometimes. Keep him on. Give him a second shot. It’d go a long way with the veteran staff.”
Riley didn’t blink. She raised one eyebrow, but her voice came out steel. “Mr. Cooper, you’ve got that wrong
She turned her eyes on him, and the sharpness made his chest tighten. “I didn’t fire them. They submitted their own resignations.”
Logan had been running hot yesterday, convinced some young woman wouldn’t dare touch him. So he’d piled on and fired off his resignation with the others he’d stirred up, figuring it would force her hand.
He never expected her to nod and approve every single one. His stomach had been dropping ever since.
He opened his mouth to argue, but Riley cut him off cold.
“And Mr. Cooper, you’re wrong about something else. Some people spend years at a company without ever building a thing. Letting those people go is what’s best for the business.”
Logan’s face twisted. He shot to his feet, his voice wobbling. “Ms. Harper! What are you saying? That I’m useless?!”
Riley watched him unravel, her mouth twisting into a cold sneer. “So you do know.”
Logan froze. He hadn’t braced himself for her to be this ruthless.
She stepped past him and moved closer, stopping right in front of him.
“You’ve been in marketing for five years. Not a single project you finished alone. Every deal you worked on, someone else closed. You just muscled in afterward. You never led a single proposal. But when bonuses came around, you always took the biggest slice. That sounds about right?”
She let it sink in, then her voice dropped colder. “And in that time, the department racked up

complaints because you bullied new hires. You also killed three projects-because you harassed people on the partner side. You want me to list them? All three?”
The words exploded inside Logan’s head.
The bullying-he’d thought he’d buried that. The new hires never lasted anyway.
And the harassment that sank those deals, that was a scar he’d tried to bury so deep he’d almost convinced himself it wasn’t real.
Three scandals he’d worked desperately to smother, and Riley had unearthed every one of them in a single day, dragging years of his filth into the light.
Sweat slicked his forehead. His mind spun.
So yesterday, when she was calling people into her office, she wasn’t just asking about work. She was digging into me.
Rage and panic warred across his features, but he refused to cop to a single accusation. He shook his head violently, his voice turning shrill with panic. “No! None of this is true! Ms. Harper, you can’t believe these rumors! Someone is framing me! They’re just jealous, so they
His voice died as he spoke. Even he could hear how hollow it rang. Under Riley’s stare, every lie he tried looked pathetic.
Noah, who’d been playing defense for Logan seconds ago, sat there as Riley laid out Logan’s rap sheet one by one. His expression jumped through shock and disgust before settling somewhere in between.
Riley finished and turned straight to Zavier, her stance locked.
“Dad, if someone else came asking, I might think about rehiring them.” Her voice stayed calm but carried weight. “But Logan’s been feeding on this department for years. Zero value. Active damage. I don’t see any reason to keep him.”
Logan’s body jerked, and his face went whiter.
