At that moment, Amber walked over. "Mr. Ross, Mrs. Ross," she greeted them.
Ava offered a warm, polite smile. Amber gently took Felicia's arm. "I am so sorry to impose, but we were hoping Felicia could stay with us for the next couple of days. Please do not worry. I will take excellent care of her."
With media reporters still lingering outside the venue, Colton and Ava exchanged a hesitant glance. Ava looked at Felicia with deep concern.
"Mom, I will be fine," Felicia assured her. She simply could not leave without knowing Anne was okay.
Ava could not bring herself to argue. "Alright then. If anything happens, make sure you call home."
"I will," Felicia promised.
Greg and Jeremy exchanged a few parting words with Felicia before the group finally took their leave. Amber stayed by Felicia's side to see them off. Standing a short distance away, Wyatt observed the scene. He cast a dark glance at the man beside him, his tone turning exceptionally harsh. "I honestly do not understand what you have to be so dissatisfied about right now."
Max kept his face entirely blank and said nothing.
Felicia stood on the steps, watching Ava and her family drive away. Amber gently pulled at her hand. "Let’s go."
Amber led Felicia to a private lounge. "When it comes down to it, you no longer have any ties to the Hawthorne family. Why don’t you come stay at my house for the next few days?"
"Alright," Felicia agreed softly. "Where is Anne?"
"We did not bring the kids today. Mandy is keeping Anne and the others company at Hawthorne Manor. I will let my aunt know in a bit so we can bring Anne over tonight. Mandy can keep her occupied."
Wyatt leaned in to instruct his wife. "Call me when you get home."
"I will. Hurry back inside," Amber urged him.
Wyatt nodded as the car slowly drove out of the garage. He returned to the memorial hall and found Max standing by a window, smoking. The relentless sound of the rain echoed outside. Max exhaled a thick cloud of smoke, the haze making him look profoundly desolate. Wyatt walked over and stood beside him. After a long silence, he finally spoke. "Anne is going to stay at my place for now."
Max continued to smoke in silence, offering no response. Wyatt knew Max was grieving the loss of his grandfather and that his fractured relationship with Felicia could not be easily fixed. Wyatt decided not to press him further. He simply patted Max on the shoulder and turned to leave.
Amber brought Felicia to her home and had the nanny prepare a guest room. While waiting for Anne to arrive, Felicia went to check on Nate. He was getting older, and losing a lifelong friend had dealt him a heavy blow. Hope was currently staying at the Hawthorne estate to keep Miranda company, leaving Nate alone at the house. When Felicia arrived at the main hall, the butler informed her that Jeremy was already inside keeping Nate company.
