The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 1184

"Alright, alright, look how anxious you are getting," Anthony laughed. "Her name is Serena Martin. She is the youngest daughter of the CEO over at Grandcrest Enterprises. She also has family ties to Max. She is kind of his cousin."

Savannah was genuinely caught off guard. "She is Max's cousin? Is she highly qualified?"

"I don't know her exact track record," Anthony admitted. "But I heard she just graduated from the University of London last year. If she passed the screening to become Darin's executive assistant, she must have some real capability."

Savannah crossed her arms and leaned back against the seat, staring out the window. "With a family background like that, she just conveniently happens to end up as Darin's assistant."

Anthony offered a mild smile. "Who knows? Maybe she just wants to gain some practical corporate experience."

Savannah didn't reply. The car fell into a comfortable silence for a while before Anthony spoke up again. "So, where do things stand between the two of you now?"

"He is practically a block of wood," Savannah sighed. "Where could things possibly stand?"

Darin truly had no idea how to navigate modern romance. He was rigid and old-fashioned, like a frog that only jumped when poked. Two days ago, he had finally initiated a text conversation and ordered her a cup of coffee, and she had embarrassingly spent half the day riding that high. She really was hopelessly doomed to fall for this man.

"You have to admit, men as steadfastly oblivious as Darin are a rare breed these days," Anthony remarked philosophically.

Savannah couldn't argue with that, which was exactly why she wasn't overly worried about Serena. Plenty of women had pursued Darin over the years, and none of them had ever managed to melt that icy exterior.

Around half past six that evening, a sleek Rolls-Royce glided to a smooth halt in front of the elegant entrance of The Willow Bistro.

A staff member hurried forward to open the door. Felicia stepped out into the cool evening air. Max immediately rounded the hood of the car, matching her stride and wrapping a protective arm around her waist. He had left work early today just to pick her up. Rather than staying at the Ross estate for dinner, he had brought her straight here.

Once they were settled into a private, beautifully decorated room, Max placed their orders, explicitly reminding the manager to have the chef monitor the seasoning carefully to accommodate her pregnancy.

Max let out a long, defeated sigh. "Alright, fine. Have it your way."

As their meal arrived and they began to eat, Felicia suddenly brought up Ivy. She wondered how the younger woman was doing lately. She also thought about Jeremy, but knowing how fiercely territorial and jealous Max was regarding him, she wisely chose not to mention his name. She had no desire to spark an unnecessary argument. Right now, Max was the picture of a gentle, considerate partner, the absolute model husband. But she hadn't forgotten the underlying darkness she had glimpsed in Iceland. When she complied with his wishes, he was accommodating and sweet. But if his temper truly flared, the man was genuinely terrifying. His extreme warmth was always shadowed by an equally extreme ruthlessness.

"Do you miss her?" Max asked casually, referring to Ivy.

"I do," Felicia admitted.

"I will send you her contact information later. You can reach out to her," Max offered smoothly.

Max had previously retrieved Felicia's phone from Jeffrey and returned it to her the day they arrived back at the Ross estate. However, before handing it over, he had thoroughly and completely formatted the device, ensuring every trace of her past messages and history was permanently erased.
