"I didn't realize you were so magnanimous," she teased.
"I am always remarkably magnanimous."
Felicia rolled her eyes. "Alright, enough. You really should get going."
Earlier that day, Tatiana had taken Anne to stay at Pinecrest Villas for a bit, since the little girl hadn't spent much time with her grandparents recently.
Max raised an eyebrow. "Are you in a rush to kick me out?"
"Were you planning on shamelessly crashing here for the night?" she countered.
"Why not? Or better yet, you could come back home with me."
"We agreed on tomorrow," she reminded him firmly.
"What difference does one day make?"
"It makes the difference of tomorrow being tomorrow," Felicia insisted.
Max let out a helpless chuckle. "Alright, fine. I will get off work early tomorrow and come pick you up."
After lingering for a few more moments, he finally stood up and left the Ross estate, keeping his promise not to overstay his welcome. Felicia walked him out, then headed upstairs to her bedroom for the night.
The following afternoon, Anthony and Savannah paid a visit to Darin's company. Since Jeremy was out of the country, the two of them were handling the project updates on their own. It had been quite some time since Savannah had last seen Darin in person.
Maintaining a strictly professional demeanor in the corporate setting, Savannah reached out to shake his hand. "Mr. Foxhall."
Darin gave a curt nod. "Please, take a seat."
The meeting between the two parties lasted for nearly an hour and a half. As they wrapped up the final details, Darin offered, "If you are free this evening, we should grab dinner together."
In the business world, such invitations were practically mandatory to accept. Anthony quickly agreed on their behalf.
Savannah looked away from the window and turned to him. "You looked like you recognized Darin's new assistant back there."
She had caught the brief flash of astonishment on Anthony's face when the assistant first walked into the conference room.
Anthony chuckled. "I do know her, actually." He paused, clearly building the suspense.
Savannah's brows knit together. "Well? Who is she?"
"Why so tense?" Anthony teased, his tone laced with amusement. "Are you secretly terrified that Darin is that easy to steal away? I didn't realize you lacked so much confidence."
Savannah glared at him, her expression darkening. "Spit it out. Stop wasting my time."
"Your attitude leaves much to be desired," Anthony tsked.
She just continued to stare him down until he finally relented.
