Darin stared at the roses offered to him before slowly reaching out to take them.

"So calm. Are you not even a little touched?" Savannah teased.

Darin glanced down at the bouquet in his hands. "The flowers are beautiful."

Hearing his dry, emotionless response, Savannah could only sigh internally. "It is almost New Year's, and since you cannot go back, I came to keep you company. I could not let you spend the holiday alone, right? Here, I brought you an early New Year's gift." She handed him the gift bag.

Darin took it, peering inside. "What is this?"

"You will find out when you open it later," Savannah said smoothly.

Darin opened his mouth to thank her, but before the words could leave his lips, Savannah reached up and covered his mouth with her hand. Darin's eyes widened in surprise.

"I do not want to hear those words," she told him firmly.

Darin gently grabbed her wrist and pulled her hand away. "Have you had dinner?"

"Not yet. I have been waiting here for you the whole time," she admitted.

"Then Let's go eat first," Darin suggested.

"Okay," she agreed happily.

Darin turned to Serena and told her to go ahead and rest. Serena nodded professionally and walked away.

"Did you book a room?" Darin asked Savannah.

Savannah raised an eyebrow and remained silent.

Darin stared at her for a moment before letting out a helpless sigh. "Let's take your luggage upstairs first."
