“There you go, Yara.” Her voice came out rough, still tinged with emotion.
“Max, what do you think of this one?” Andrea’s voice floated over again, light and casual.
Felicia’s fingers curled tight at her side. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted Max walking in. She had known this might happen. Still, seeing it for herself sent a wave of anger and resentment crashing through her chest.
“Are you okay?” Yara tugged at her sleeve, worry in her eyes.
Felicia took a long breath, trying to steady herself. She managed a smile. “I’m fine, really.”
She led Yara over to the mirror and knelt down, smoothing out her dress. “Do you like it?”
Yara spun around, craning her neck to see the bow at the back, her eyes bright. “I love it,” she said, grinning wide.
Max heard their voices and glanced over. He watched as Felicia gently adjusted the girl’s dress, her gaze soft and full of affection.
Felicia stood up and, without meaning to, met Max’s dark eyes. She looked away, her face cool and unreadable, as if he were just another stranger in the store. She bent to take Yara’s hand and walked them over to the counter to pay.
Andrea noticed the whole thing. She saw how Max couldn’t seem to take his eyes off Felicia, and a strange sense of unease bubbled up inside her. Evelynn really did have a way of drawing men in.
“That’s Evelynn,” Andrea said, watching them. “Hard to believe her kid’s already that big.” Max’s face gave nothing away. He looked the same as always, impossible to read.
“Daddy, look at my shoes,” Anne called out. The saleswoman had just slipped a pair of red patent shoes onto her feet. Anne twirled, admiring them, completely oblivious to Felicia. Her view was blocked by a row of hanging clothes.
They made it down the escalator and outside, but Felicia just couldn’t hold back anymore. Tears started to spill down her cheeks.
Heather was startled. She rushed to support Felicia, her voice full of worry. “Felicia, what happened? Are you alright?”
“Please don’t cry!” Yara pleaded, her voice small and scared.
Felicia couldn’t speak at first. It took her a while to choke out, “I need to use the restroom. I’ll be right back.”
When Felicia finally came out, her eyes were red, but the storm inside her had settled. She looked calm again, collected, ready to keep going.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max)
Nothing today...
The story starting to feel dragged out. Nothing much is happening anymore and Felicia and Max are getting kinda boring.. it’s just the same cycle over and over again...
I used to like this story but now it draaaaags :( Now it seems like all characters are problematic and toxic (yes, ALL characters). Wish the author will give some warmth/emotion in this story. 700+ chapters and still no highlight, no exciting part, just pure coldness and expressionlessness lol...
Max and felicia really need to figure things out. Either humble max down and get him to respect his wife. Or let felicia be a free woman. Max is so ignorant and egomaniac...
I've reached chapter 104 with a broken heart huhuuhu. This is so heavy, so sad. I know the chapters onwards will be more lighter. Can't wait for the pay back time....
When will this novel get an end It's dragging so much. Just kill max asap. How much should felicia bare. Give her freedom from that max and anne. Anne is so annoying child. I know she wants to patch up her mother and father. But sometimes it's really boring.please finish the novel soon. Everyday we have to check for the chapter updates. For God sake finish it off. How many more chapters are there . You could have make the novel short and sweet. I wish if it was in theatre we could have finish it soon....
I am waiting for the update, thank you uploader we reader enjoying the story...
Finally! The robot Max is turning into a human....
The longer it takes to update chapters, the faster I lose my interest. Time to find another novel to indulge to, I guess....
