“I’m not accepting your apology, Mr. Foxhall. Whoever did this should be the one to face the consequences.”

Without another word, Felicia grabbed her things, turned, and walked out of the room without looking back.

Darin watched her leave, his eyes fixed on her until she disappeared from the living room. The irritation buzzing inside him only grew stronger.

Davis glanced at Darin’s tense face, feeling completely lost.

“M...Mr. Foxhall?”

“Get lost.”

Davis nodded quickly and hurried away.

After a while, Darin finally calmed down and called Jeremy. Once the call ended, the housekeeper came in with a cup of calming tea.

“She looks a bit like Miss Curtis,” the housekeeper commented.

Darin took a sip of tea.

“She does.”

Felicia drove away from the villa. The way things turned out was exactly what she expected.

As she merged onto the main road, her car’s hands-free system rang. When she saw who was calling, her mood instantly lifted. She answered, and Anne’s cheerful voice came through.

“Evelynn, are you done with work?”

Felicia had already told Anne her work schedule.

“Yeah, I just finished. What about you, Anne? What are you up to?”

“I learned a new song today. Can I play it for you?”

Felicia paused for a second. So Anne hadn’t gone out of town on the business trip after all. Relief washed over her. She didn’t care about Andrea and Max’s time together, but the thought of Anne tagging along with Andrea made her uneasy.

“Of course, I’d love to hear it!”

“Sure.”

Felicia headed to the office and found Jeremy in his office.

“Mr. Milman.” At work, she always kept things formal.

“You haven’t had dinner yet, have you?” Jeremy asked. “I had some food sent up for you. Eat up.”

Felicia nodded, sat down, and took a sip of the hot soup. Jeremy sat across from her, watching her quietly for a few moments.

“So what did Darin say?” he asked.

“He said he’ll have a public apology posted online, pay compensation, and he owes me a favor. If I ever need something from him, he won’t turn me down.”

A favor from someone like Darin was no small thing.
