When it came to Anne, he just didn’t know what to say to make her feel better.

Out of nowhere, Felicia spoke up. “Oh, by the way, Luke’s coming to the hospital soon.”

Jeremy asked, “He knows about your accident?” As soon as the words left his mouth, he realized Anthony had already brought it up earlier.

“Yeah. You should go have dinner with him tonight. I want to be alone for a bit.”

“Alright,” Jeremy agreed easily.

About forty minutes later, Luke showed up at the hospital. The moment he saw Felicia safe and well, he finally let out a long breath, the tension leaving his face.

“Good, as long as you’re okay.”

“Did they figure out what caused the accident?”

The police had already given them an update. The hotel’s security footage showed someone messing with the car, but the person had covered every angle, disguising themselves completely. Tracking them down would take time.

“Want me to help?” Luke offered.

Jeremy had actually talked to Jett earlier, but that old fox always kept his cards close. With the real culprit still at large, there was no point in revealing what he knew. For now, he just kept quiet.

“Yeah, actually, I do need your help, Luke.”

Luke was a wizard with computers. Going the ordinary route would take too long, and this situation called for something a little less conventional.

“We can talk details over dinner.”

Felicia looked tired, so Luke and Jeremy didn’t stay any longer. After saying goodbye, they left her room.

Luke got into Jeremy’s car, and they drove to a five-star hotel nearby for dinner.

As soon as they walked into the restaurant, they ran into Max, Anne, and Andrea.

Anne wasn’t her usual bubbly self. She looked tired and quiet. But as soon as she spotted Luke, she called out, “Uncle Luke!”

Luke turned at the sound of her voice. When he saw them, something shifted in his eyes. He walked over, and Anne ran right into his arms.

He scooped her up. “It’s been a while, Anne.”

Luke didn’t push for more.

The conversation didn’t last long. Luke handed Anne back to Max, and each group went to their own table.

Luke turned to Jeremy. “When did Anne meet you?”

Jeremy took a sip of water and said, “Yesterday.” He gave Luke a quick rundown of what had happened.

“Anne’s a great kid,” Luke said quietly.

He had to admit, Max had done a good job raising her.

“Maybe she can sense things, even if she can’t explain them,” Jeremy agreed.

They left the topic behind and got down to business.

“So, what do you need from me?”

After Anne finished dinner, she slipped away from her table and hurried over to Luke. He pulled her onto the seat next to him, glancing at Max and Andrea’s table. They were sitting a good distance away.
