Anne was having the time of her life at the summer house with Mandy and the two cousins. The kids were running wild, their laughter echoing through the gardens. Max stayed on the phone with Anne for several minutes before finally hanging up. He turned back to the Roen Capital team, his eyes crinkling with pride. “Sorry about that, my daughter’s a little clingy these days.”
“Daughters always want their dads around. Mine used to follow me everywhere when she was little.”
“Girls are the sweetest. My son, though, if he’s not causing trouble, he feels like his day’s wasted.”
Everyone laughed, and just like that, the conversation drifted to their kids. The air felt lighter, the group more at ease. Felicia just listened, a small smile on her lips.
Then one of the ladies from BlueMarble Investments glanced over at Felicia and asked, “Evelynn, are you married?”
Felicia hesitated for a split second. Ever since she’d started at Roen Capital, she’d stopped wearing her wedding ring. She offered a calm smile, her answer simple. “No.”
Her marriage with Max had never been real, anyway. She didn’t look at the man at the head of the table, but she noticed him smirking, almost like he was enjoying the moment. Before the lady could say anything else, he spoke up, not bothering to hide his sharp tone. “Funny. Last time I saw Evelynn, she was wearing a wedding ring.”
Felicia turned to him, her voice steady. “We’re divorced now.”
Max’s gaze was unreadable, his eyes dark. “That was quick.”
She took another sip of wine, her tone light. “Well, what’s the point of staying with a man who cheats and parades his mistress around in public?”
Max just stared at her. The rest of the table fell silent, picking up on the strange current between them, though no one could quite figure it out. If anything, their curiosity about Evelynn’s marriage only grew. She was gorgeous, smart, and successful, the kind of woman any man would dream of. What kind of guy would cheat on someone like her?
“You scared me…” she blurted, hand pressed over her heart.
Max’s gaze lingered on her face, taking in her obvious pallor.
Felicia steadied herself, her irritation bubbling up. “Mr. Hawthorne, do you always sneak up on people like that?”
He shrugged, eyes sharp. “Feeling guilty?”
Felicia just stared at him, at a loss for words.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max)
Nothing today...
The story starting to feel dragged out. Nothing much is happening anymore and Felicia and Max are getting kinda boring.. it’s just the same cycle over and over again...
I used to like this story but now it draaaaags :( Now it seems like all characters are problematic and toxic (yes, ALL characters). Wish the author will give some warmth/emotion in this story. 700+ chapters and still no highlight, no exciting part, just pure coldness and expressionlessness lol...
Max and felicia really need to figure things out. Either humble max down and get him to respect his wife. Or let felicia be a free woman. Max is so ignorant and egomaniac...
I've reached chapter 104 with a broken heart huhuuhu. This is so heavy, so sad. I know the chapters onwards will be more lighter. Can't wait for the pay back time....
When will this novel get an end It's dragging so much. Just kill max asap. How much should felicia bare. Give her freedom from that max and anne. Anne is so annoying child. I know she wants to patch up her mother and father. But sometimes it's really boring.please finish the novel soon. Everyday we have to check for the chapter updates. For God sake finish it off. How many more chapters are there . You could have make the novel short and sweet. I wish if it was in theatre we could have finish it soon....
I am waiting for the update, thank you uploader we reader enjoying the story...
Finally! The robot Max is turning into a human....
