He glanced away and pulled the car into the villa.
Felicia drove off the estate with Luke in the passenger seat.
Luke watched her for a moment, then asked, “Do you think he knows it’s you?”
Felicia kept her eyes on the road, completely calm. “If he hasn’t said anything, let’s just pretend no one knows.”
Even Amber had her suspicions today. And Max, being as sharp as he was, definitely wouldn’t miss a thing. He adored Anne. When it came to Anne and Andrea, Anne was always first in his heart. Now that Anne liked her so much, Max didn’t try to stop it. As long as she could see Anne and spend time with her, she figured it was enough.
Luke didn’t push any further. He knew Felicia had her own way of handling things.
“So, are you free tomorrow afternoon?” he asked.
“I should be after two, unless something unexpected comes up.”
“Perfect. Let’s go skydiving,” Luke suggested, grinning.
Felicia shook her head. “Probably not. I promised Anne we’d hang out tomorrow. She wants to fly kites.”
“Then let’s go for kite flying.”
“Sounds good.”
The next morning, after finishing her work, Felicia called Anne.
She drove over to the villa, and Anne was already waiting outside with her little backpack on, ready to go.
Max walked Anne out to the gate and handed Felicia a container. “I packed some snacks and fruit for her. Her water bottle has enough for today. Don’t let her eat too much, and absolutely no ice cream or sugary drinks.”
Anne puffed up her cheeks. “Daddy’s so mean. He never lets me have ice cream.”
Felicia ruffled Anne’s hair, making a mental note of everything Max said.
“Have her back before seven,” Max reminded her.
Felicia met his eyes, her gentle look turning a little more serious. “Okay,” she replied quietly.
Anne happily climbed into Felicia’s car and waved at her dad. “Bye-bye, Daddy!”
They went into the living room and found Jeremy already there.
On the way home, Greg had called, so Felicia knew Jeremy was over at the Ross family house. Jeremy’s parents, Adrian and Shannon, would be arriving in the city tomorrow, so Jeremy was picking up Heather and Yara. Colton and Ava insisted everyone eat dinner together.
Jeremy had arrived around three, but Felicia hadn’t been home.
“Hi,” Felicia greeted him.
Jeremy smiled faintly, his gaze drifting over her and Luke.
Luke headed for the sofa, sat down, and said hello to Jeremy and Greg.
“Felicia, you’re back,” Heather said. “Where did you two go this afternoon?”
“I took my daughter to the park to fly a kite,” Felicia answered.
Greg and Heather already knew Felicia had spent time with Anne the day before.
