Max caught the determination in Luke’s eyes and decided not to push the issue. “Suit yourself,” he said quietly.

He turned and got into his car. With a low hum, he drove away.

Luke stood there for a moment, watching until the car vanished down the road. Only then did he turn and head back toward his villa.

Anne slept straight through the night and woke up to the gentle light of morning. As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw Evelynn and broke into a fit of giggles. “Good morning, Evelynn!”

Felicia leaned in and kissed her forehead. “Good morning, Anne.”

Anne hugged Felicia around the neck and planted a kiss on her cheek.

They played together on the bed for a while, savoring the slow start to the day. Then Felicia scooped Anne up and carried her to the bathroom. Anne’s tiny toiletries were all lined up, brought from home just for her.

Felicia helped Anne into a pretty dress and brushed out her hair. She wove it into a neat, low ponytail. Compared to Max’s intricate styles, it wasn’t much, and Felicia had to admit that Max really did have a knack for hair.

Once they were both ready, Felicia took Anne’s hand and they headed downstairs. Anne bounced along beside her, full of energy.

Downstairs, they spotted Yara.

Heather and Yara had stayed over the night before, since everyone planned to go out together today.

Just then, Greg and Heather came in from outside. Heather had been up early for a workout, tagging along with Greg.

“Morning, Anne,” Heather called out with a smile.

“Good morning, Auntie Heather!”

Felicia waved them toward the bathroom. “Go get washed up, breakfast is ready.”

“Okay!”

A little while later, Luke arrived.

Today was the day of his company’s big gaming event for one of their most popular titles. He had invited Felicia a while back, asking if she’d cosplay a famous female character from the game.

Felicia had been curious and agreed, thinking it sounded like a fun change of pace. She decided to bring Anne along for the adventure.

She felt exhausted but had to admit this whole experience was a blast.

“I’m treating everyone to a feast tonight,” Luke promised.

Heather snapped a quick photo of Felicia and sent it to her brother. [Guess who this hottie is?]

Jeremy replied almost instantly. [Where are you and Felicia today?]

Heather grinned as she typed back. [We’re at Luke’s company event. Felicia is cosplaying a character. Isn’t she stunning?]

Jeremy: [She’s gorgeous. Have fun and take care of the kids.]

Heather: [Come on, just a little sisterly advice. You can’t just wait for fate to drop the perfect girl into your life. Look at Luke, he actually goes for what he wants. He’s way better at people too.]

Jeremy: [Felicia isn’t divorced yet.]

Heather was about to keep teasing him when Felicia glanced over. “Heather, who are you texting? Let’s go.”
