The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 293

When Felicia saw the caller ID, she didn’t even think about it. She hung up right away and blocked the number without a second thought.

About fifteen minutes later, the driver arrived. Felicia got in, gave him the address, and settled into the back seat as they headed out. It was rush hour, though, so traffic crawled along slower than usual. Almost an hour passed before the car finally pulled up in front of the Gilbert family mansion.

Felicia stepped out and started walking toward the main gate. Just then, a Rolls-Royce glided up the driveway. She recognized it instantly. Without a second look, she turned her attention back to where she was going and kept walking.

Max reached the living room just before she did. As Felicia walked under the eaves, she heard a little voice inside, bright with excitement.

“Daddy!” Anne called. “Daddy, why didn’t you come with Evelynn? Weren’t you supposed to pick her up?”

Felicia was invited in by a housekeeper. Max was holding Anne in his arms. The cheerful conversation inside the living room stopped for a split second when everyone noticed Felicia at the door. Their faces showed all kinds of different emotions.

Max turned around with Anne still in his arms and looked right at Felicia. Anne saw her too, and her smile got even brighter.

“Evelynn!” Anne called out, reaching for her.

Felicia walked over and took Anne from Max, who let her go without a word. Anne threw her arms around Felicia’s neck, smiling and snuggling close.

Felicia stroked Anne’s hair gently. “Alright, that’s enough,” she said softly.

The warmth between the two of them drew everyone’s eyes. When Felicia first walked in, Miranda barely recognized her. It wasn’t until she saw Anne’s reaction that it clicked. Five years can really change a person. Felicia looked so different, she was almost a stranger.

Tatiana’s expression didn’t look too friendly. With Max standing right there, the three of them could have easily passed for a picture-perfect family.

Felicia set Anne down, and Anne immediately grabbed her hand, tugging her toward the sofa. “Come on, I want to introduce you to everyone.”

As they walked over, Amber smiled in greeting. “So you’re the special guest Grandpa mentioned. Welcome, Evelynn.”

Felicia smiled back. “Thank you.”

Amber patted the spot beside her, inviting Felicia to sit. Felicia took the seat, relaxed and at ease. Mandy gave her a polite hello as well.

“Luke, you’re back,” Hope said.

Luke snapped out of it and went around, greeting each of the elders politely. The butler went to notify the rest of the family.

Soon, Nate came in. Felicia greeted him with a simple, “Nate.”

Nate nodded. “Glad you made it.”

Everyone started taking their seats. Wyatt came up beside Max and whispered, “So, you two finally made up?”

Max just gave a small smile and didn’t say anything.

He pulled out a chair for Felicia and looked at her. “Sit here.”
