Ava hesitated for a second, then decided to call Greg.

If Wilfred could show up at their villa, he definitely knew where Greg’s company was. She had to warn him to be careful.

Greg was caught off guard when he saw his mom calling. He answered, surprised.

“Mom, don’t worry. I’ll handle it. Just to be safe, have Dean go with you whenever you leave the house, alright?”

“I will. And about your uncle… It’s obvious someone’s trying to get at me, whether it’s through Wilfred or Edmund’s side of things.”

Greg frowned. “Who do you think it is?”

Ava let out a long breath. “I can’t think of anyone but Mrs. Curtis.”

She was just a housewife. Her social circle was small. Who else could she have offended? It had to be Yvonne, getting back at her for that humiliation.

“Why would she come after you? Did you ever have any real connection with her?”

Ava finally told Greg the truth. “She’s Colton’s ex-wife. Felicia’s birth mother.”

Greg froze. For a second, he couldn’t even move.

Suddenly, he thought of Darin.

He knew a bit about the mess inside IronGate Industries and that Darin wasn’t really part of the Curtis family by blood. He was Mrs. Curtis’ son from before she married in.

He also remembered that when Colton and his ex-wife split, she took their son—Felicia’s brother—with her, while Felicia stayed with Colton. He’d always known that.

Now, everything made sense.

Darin was Felicia’s brother.

He thought back to five years ago, when Riverline Properties took over Colton’s company. The buyer turned out to be Colton’s own son, and that whole ordeal had almost ruined Colton’s business.

Now, his half-sister Andrea was getting involved in Felicia’s marriage. Darin was just standing by while Max embarrassed Felicia over and over.

It all felt so bitterly ironic.

And now, that same mother was the one causing her so much pain.

After hanging up, Greg sat in his chair for a while, trying to calm down.

Then he picked up his phone and dialed Felicia.

She picked up after a few rings.

“Hey, Greg, what’s up?” Her voice was quick, like she was in the middle of something.

“Are you busy at work?” he asked. He’d gone to the office early that morning and missed breakfast, so he had no idea what she was up to.

“Yeah, I’m in a meeting,” Felicia replied.

“Sorry to bother you. I’ll let you get back to it.”

“No worries. I’ll call you later, okay?”
