Felicia suddenly remembered something and started looking for her phone, but it was nowhere to be found. With no other choice, she grabbed Anne’s smartwatch and called Jeremy.

The call connected almost immediately.

“Hello, who’s this?”

“Jeremy, it’s me.”

“Felicia,” Jeremy said, sounding relieved. “You’re awake. How do you feel?”

“I’m okay, thanks. But my phone is missing,” she said, trying to keep her voice steady.

Her phone had a lot of sensitive Roen Capital files on it. The thought made her uneasy.

“Yours, Savannah’s, and Mason’s phones were all taken,” Jeremy told her. “I’ve already had someone wipe all the data remotely.”

He didn’t mention that some files had already been downloaded. He didn’t want her to stress over it.

Felicia finally breathed a little easier. So it wasn’t just about her. Whoever did this wanted Roen Capital’s secrets.

“Are you at the hospital now?”

“No, I’m at Anne’s place,” Felicia replied.

When Anne had arrived at the hospital, Jeremy hadn’t stayed long. He left to handle the phone situation. After Felicia’s IV was finished, she had been out cold for hours. Once the doctors were sure she was stable, Max took her and Anne back to the villa. They’d only just gotten home when Felicia woke up.

Jeremy seemed to get it. “Alright, get some rest. You don’t have to worry about any of this. I’ll look into everything.”

“Okay,” Felicia agreed.

“Oh, and about the CoreTech merger… Roen Capital doesn’t need it.”

The contract was still with Max. Jeremy guessed Max was planning to use it as leverage. He knew Felicia’s style. She was tough on her team but always looked out for their interests. Because of that, her team trusted her completely.

Her determination to negotiate with CoreTech wasn’t just for herself. She cared about the company and everyone who worked there. She’d probably be willing to compromise for them.

“Actually, Roen Capital is working on another partnership right now,” Jeremy added. “If it goes through, it could cover whatever we lose from CoreTech.”

“I’m not interested in the CoreTech deal either,” Max said.

Felicia tightened her grip on the contract, a faint, sarcastic smile appearing on her lips. “Andrea went through a lot of trouble to get this, you know.”

Max glanced up at her. “What’s yours is yours.”

Felicia listened, trying to read his tone, but he was impossible to figure out. She wasn’t naive enough to think he was just handing the contract back out of kindness. If he was giving it up, there had to be a reason.

“So what do you want?” she asked.

If she hadn’t called Jeremy, she might have actually considered giving in. Now, she was more curious than ever about what Max expected from her.

Max could see right through her suspicion and hesitation. “What if I said I don’t want anything?”

“You? Acting like a saint?” Felicia raised an eyebrow.

Max let out a low laugh. “If you really want me to ask for something, then just stay here for a few days. Anne won’t have to keep running back and forth.”
