The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 510

After a quick chat with Anne, Felicia ended the call and headed downstairs, where she ran into Luke.

“Hey Luke, how’s work going lately?”

Luke let out a tired laugh. “It’s the end of the year. You know how it is. I’m just counting down the days until I can finally take a break. How about you, Felicia? Been busy?”

Felicia nodded. “Busy doesn’t even begin to cover it. I bet your company’s numbers are even better than last year, right?” Over the past few years, Luke’s projects had been mostly wins. The younger generation of the Hawthorne family definitely knew what they were doing in business.

Luke flashed a grin. “Yeah, it’s been a solid year. We’re looking at hitting fifty million.”

Felicia raised an eyebrow, teasing him. “Look at you. Young and killing it.”

Just then, Greg called out, “Luke.”

“Hey, Greg.” Luke smiled and the two exchanged a few words before Ava waved everyone over for breakfast.

Once Felicia got to the office, her Monday kicked off in full force. The morning was swallowed up by a senior management meeting, most of it focused on the TC Project collaboration. The news that such a huge project had landed with Roen Capital left the higher-ups stunned, especially since everyone knew it had been in Max’s hands before.

When Jeremy shared the update, Anthony looked especially shocked. He glanced at Felicia and seemed to piece it all together instantly, but it was still almost unbelievable. Max had actually given up such a major project just to keep his marriage with Felicia on track.

After the meeting, the executives were all smiles. This project would more than make up for the losses Silva Capital suffered from Max’s earlier moves. Looking back, it seemed like he’d brought that mess on himself.

Anthony caught up to Felicia. “He didn’t make you agree to anything crazy, did he?”

Felicia grabbed her bag and ducked under his umbrella. As they headed toward the entrance, she noticed a man getting out of the other car. Max glanced their way.

Inside the building, the warmth hit her immediately. Both teams slowly filed into the conference room, exchanging polite greetings. At that moment, Felicia and Max were nothing more than business partners. They shook hands, all formal and professional.

Just as Felicia was about to let go, Max’s grip tightened for a second. She looked up at him.

He smiled gently, his voice soft and caring. “Your hands are cold. You should dress warmer. Your health matters most.”

Felicia stared at him, surprised, as he let go of her hand. People nearby glanced over, clearly curious. They still remembered how, a few months ago at the financial summit, Mr. Hawthorne had made things difficult for her. He wasn’t the type to show this kind of concern in public, and there was no mistaking the warmth in his tone now.
