The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 517

Max was even more relentless than Trey. He wanted her to give in completely, to come home and be the perfect wife and mother again. He said he’d pay any price for that, but how could she just cave so easily? If she did, what would the last five years of struggle even mean?

Jeremy noticed something was off with Felicia. “Hey, are you okay?”

She snapped out of it, gave a small shake of her head, and managed a quick smile. “It’s nothing. I was just thinking—Heather said she’s taking Yara back to Northwick. When are they leaving?”

“Heather already got permission from Yara’s teacher. They’re heading back tomorrow,” Jeremy said.

Felicia nodded. “Make sure you keep a close eye on how much time Yara spends with Trey.”

As they talked, Felicia glanced up and noticed two men coming in. It was Max and Darin.

Max spotted Felicia right away and made a beeline toward her. Darin, meanwhile, caught sight of Savannah across the room.

Max walked over, and Savannah, almost without thinking, looked past him straight at Darin. Their eyes met for just a second.

Darin offered Savannah a polite nod and the faintest smile.

She quickly looked away.

Chris, sitting with Savannah, picked up on her mood right away. “Are you alright?”

Savannah pulled herself together. “Yeah, I’m fine. Sorry, I just need to use the restroom.”

“Sure.”

She stood, asked a server for directions, and headed toward the restroom. As she walked by, she passed Darin, but they didn’t say a word. It was as if they were total strangers.

Max stopped at Felicia’s table and saw Jeremy. He greeted him, all polite and formal. “Mr. Milman.”

Jeremy barely glanced up, just giving a curt nod.

Felicia noticed Savannah had left and leaned over to Jeremy. “I’ll go check on Savannah.”

“Savannah,” Felicia said, coming over.

Savannah was at the sink, washing her hands. Felicia handed her a paper towel.

“Thanks,” Savannah said, taking it and tossing it in the trash.

“So, what do you think of him?” Felicia asked.

Savannah shrugged. “He seems considerate. He’s easy to talk to, and honestly, he looks better in person than in his pictures.”

Felicia listened, but it was clear Savannah’s compliments were just surface-level. None of it really meant anything to her.

It was just their luck to run into Darin and Max today. Standing Chris next to Darin made the difference even more obvious. Some people just leave an impression you never really shake.

Felicia couldn’t help herself. “Savannah, when you and Darin were together, did you really think he loved you?”
