“I told you already, you don’t need to check in with me about your schedule,” Felicia said.
Max sounded calm as ever. “I still think I should let you know. Darin’s not feeling well, so I’m at the hospital with him.”
Felicia didn’t reply. She just hung up.
Max put his phone down, then went back into the hospital room and pulled up a chair next to the bed.
Half an hour later, Darin looked a lot better. He was fully awake now, but neither of them said a word.
A hotel staff member brought in some late-night food.
“Just set it down,” Max said.
The staff left quietly.
Max stood and looked at Darin. “You should get up and eat something. Don’t mess around with your health.”
Darin didn’t move. After a long pause, he finally said, “You can leave.”
Max nodded. “Alright. Rest here tonight and make sure you eat something.”
Darin stayed silent.
Max gave him one last look before heading out. On the way, he asked a nurse to keep an eye on Darin.
By the time Max got back to Oakridge Estate, it was already ten.
He went to their room but Felicia wasn’t there.
Felicia was still up, texting with Heather.
Heather was venting about her dad, who had set up a bunch of blind dates for Jeremy. All the girls were from good families, good-looking, polite—the whole package.
Heather had no clue where her dad even found so many perfect girls.
Adrian was being really pushy this time, insisting Jeremy meet everyone. Jeremy finally gave in and went to see one today. Heather had secretly followed them.
The girl was head over heels for Jeremy the second she saw him. She was so enthusiastic, it was almost embarrassing. Not that Heather was surprised.
Ava saw the pile of gifts and held her tongue because Anne was there, but she definitely planned to talk to Felicia later. She wanted Max to stop sending gifts. He used to look down on their family, and now they didn’t care about his gifts at all.
“Felicia, hi,” Greg called, coming down the stairs.
Anne spotted him and chirped, “Greg!”
Greg came over, smiling at Anne. “Let me give you a hug.”
Anne held out her arms and let him pick her up. “You look so pretty today, Anne.”
Anne giggled, happy as ever.
“You’re off work for the next couple of days, right?” Felicia asked.
Greg nodded. “Yeah, I can finally relax for a couple of days.”
“Oh, Mom,” Felicia added, turning to Ava. “Jeremy’s coming over for lunch.”

The readers' comments on the novel: The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max)
I've reached chapter 104 with a broken heart huhuuhu. This is so heavy, so sad. I know the chapters onwards will be more lighter. Can't wait for the pay back time....
When will this novel get an end It's dragging so much. Just kill max asap. How much should felicia bare. Give her freedom from that max and anne. Anne is so annoying child. I know she wants to patch up her mother and father. But sometimes it's really boring.please finish the novel soon. Everyday we have to check for the chapter updates. For God sake finish it off. How many more chapters are there . You could have make the novel short and sweet. I wish if it was in theatre we could have finish it soon....
