After a while, Yvonne’s voice finally broke through. “Darin.”

Darin’s voice was icy. “When did you find out about Felicia?”

He knew Yvonne must have dug into Felicia’s identity, just to make sure Andrea could marry Max.

Yvonne hesitated, then answered quietly, “I know you hate me now, but back then, I didn’t even know Max’s wife was Felicia.”

Darin’s anger simmered. “But once you did know, what did you do? Did you ever see her as your daughter, or was she nothing to you by then? How could you hurt her like that?”

Yvonne’s voice shook. “Do you think I wanted this? Felicia wanted to leave Max. She should have been with Luke. They grew up together. I just wanted her to have the life she deserved.”

Darin laughed bitterly. “After you destroyed her reputation, how could she go back to any kind of life? She has a kid with Max. How do you expect her to be with Luke now?”

His words came out sharp, his frustration barely contained.

Yvonne was stunned by his anger. Her throat felt tight, and she couldn’t find the words to answer.

“Andrea is not marrying Max.” Darin’s words were steady, serious, and final.

“Darin, do you really have to do this?” Yvonne’s voice trembled, pain seeping through. “Do you really think I wanted to divorce your father all those years ago?”

“It doesn’t matter if you wanted it or not. What’s done is done. I don’t want you to bother Dad anymore. And don’t let Felicia find out about you.”

His last words came out as a warning.

“Keep Andrea in Northwick. If you don’t, I’ll send her abroad myself.”

He didn’t give her a chance to argue. The call ended, leaving nothing but silence behind.
