The room fell quiet for a moment. When Felicia was sure he wasn't about to make a move, she started to calm down.
"You're making things so difficult for yourself," she said.
Max looked at her, a hint of a smile tugging at his lips. "You won't let me touch you. What else am I supposed to do?"
Felicia scoffed, "I'm sure there are plenty of people willing to help you out."
He shook his head. "I'm not looking to get divorced."
He reached out, cupping her face in his hands. He leaned in, brushing a soft kiss against the corner of her mouth. His breath was warm against her neck, his voice low and tempting. "Just keep me in check, will you?"
Letting her go, Max glanced down at her tense expression, then turned and walked off toward the bathroom.
Felicia stood there, unsure what to do next. She lost track of time until the sound of running water drifted out from behind the bathroom door.
She let out a slow breath, trying to collect herself.
Just then, someone knocked at the door.
The knock startled her. She quickly straightened up and went to answer it. A maid stood outside, hands respectfully folded over a set of fresh men's clothes.
"These are for Mr. Hawthorne," the maid said.
Felicia nodded and accepted the clothes.
"Is there anything else Mr. Hawthorne needs?" the maid asked politely.
"No, that's everything," Felicia replied.
With a bow, the maid stepped aside and left.
Felicia closed the door and carried the clothes back into the bedroom. She set them down on the bed, glancing toward the bathroom. Her thoughts wandered to Carol.

I've reached chapter 104 with a broken heart huhuuhu. This is so heavy, so sad. I know the chapters onwards will be more lighter. Can't wait for the pay back time....
When will this novel get an end It's dragging so much. Just kill max asap. How much should felicia bare. Give her freedom from that max and anne. Anne is so annoying child. I know she wants to patch up her mother and father. But sometimes it's really boring.please finish the novel soon. Everyday we have to check for the chapter updates. For God sake finish it off. How many more chapters are there . You could have make the novel short and sweet. I wish if it was in theatre we could have finish it soon....
