Felicia stared at him, her mind a mess. Sunlight spilled in from the window, brushing his shoulders in a soft glow. The way he stared at her was intense, almost like she was the only girl he’d ever truly loved.
“Of course.”
His voice was gentle, a warm breeze that slid straight into her chest. It was so easy to believe, just for a second, that she meant everything to him.
Felicia caught herself before she fell too deep. She shot him a look, pushed him away, and sat up.
Max didn’t try to stop her. He got up too, reaching for her hand with a small smile. “I still haven’t buttoned my shirt.”
Felicia pulled her hand back and glared at him, losing patience. “Max, will you just give it a rest?”
Her words barely faded when a phone started vibrating.
It was Max’s. He crossed the room, glanced at the caller ID, and picked up.
Cian’s voice came through, laughing. “Still not finished over there?”
Max rolled his eyes. “Is now really the best time to call?”
Cian just laughed harder. “Alright, alright. Wrap it up. If I’d known, I wouldn’t have invited you today. You and Evelynn could’ve stayed home and had your fun.”
Max ended the call, buttoned his shirt, and straightened his clothes.
“Let’s go.”
He reached for her hand again, but Felicia sidestepped him and walked straight for the door.
His hand closed on air. He could only smile helplessly, watching her walk away before following her out.
The Lisbon and Hawthorne families ran in the same circles, so Carol had known Max forever.
She’d always been in love with him, maybe even the craziest. When Max left for America to start his company, Carol chased after him.
Ever since she was little, she’d told anyone who’d listen that she’d marry Max one day. She never hid her feelings.
But Max never liked her that way. She couldn’t compete with Andrea, not in looks, not in that soft, sweet way men liked. And Andrea’s family was just as powerful as Carol’s, so she didn’t have any real edge.
Carol was engaged now, set up by her family, and she’d finally started to accept it.
However, seeing Max again today, she couldn’t help falling for him all over again.
She’d accepted losing to Andrea. She thought Max would end up with her. But now, watching him with another girl, someone with absolutely nothing special about her, it just stung in a way Carol couldn’t ignore.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max)
Nothing today...
The story starting to feel dragged out. Nothing much is happening anymore and Felicia and Max are getting kinda boring.. it’s just the same cycle over and over again...
I used to like this story but now it draaaaags :( Now it seems like all characters are problematic and toxic (yes, ALL characters). Wish the author will give some warmth/emotion in this story. 700+ chapters and still no highlight, no exciting part, just pure coldness and expressionlessness lol...
Max and felicia really need to figure things out. Either humble max down and get him to respect his wife. Or let felicia be a free woman. Max is so ignorant and egomaniac...
I've reached chapter 104 with a broken heart huhuuhu. This is so heavy, so sad. I know the chapters onwards will be more lighter. Can't wait for the pay back time....
When will this novel get an end It's dragging so much. Just kill max asap. How much should felicia bare. Give her freedom from that max and anne. Anne is so annoying child. I know she wants to patch up her mother and father. But sometimes it's really boring.please finish the novel soon. Everyday we have to check for the chapter updates. For God sake finish it off. How many more chapters are there . You could have make the novel short and sweet. I wish if it was in theatre we could have finish it soon....
I am waiting for the update, thank you uploader we reader enjoying the story...
Finally! The robot Max is turning into a human....
The longer it takes to update chapters, the faster I lose my interest. Time to find another novel to indulge to, I guess....
