Hearing this, the man’s grip loosened slightly. He took her hands in his and sighed softly. “It won’t happen again. From now on, I’ll discuss things with you first.”
He always spoke with that same tone of absolute control.
Felicia yanked her hands away and turned her back to him, creating distance. She walked to the floor-to-ceiling windows and took a deep breath, her profile tense and her expression grim.
From the 39th floor, she couldn’t make out the details below, but she could see the blurred shapes of the crowd that had gathered at the main entrance.
Max stood where he was, watching her quietly.
For a moment, the vast office was so silent you could hear a pin drop.
Just then, the intercom buzzed again.
Max turned and pressed the button. Isaac’s respectful voice came through the speaker. “Mr. Hawthorne, there’s a meeting document that needs your approval.”
“Come in.”
“Yes, sir.”
Isaac entered a moment later.
The instant he walked in, he saw Evelynn standing by the windows.
He was certain of one thing now. Felicia must have married Mr. Hawthorne five years ago, using a baby to secure her position, which was why Mr. Hawthorne had despised her so much back then.
But now, the tables had completely turned.
Mr. Hawthorne adored their child. In five years, Evelynn had completely transformed herself. She had left her child behind and taken a gamble that had finally paid off.
He felt a genuine sense of admiration for her.
“I’m on my way home now.”
When she arrived, Colton and Ava were waiting for her in the living room.
“Felicia.”
They had, of course, seen the announcement from BlueMarble Investments and the news exploding online.
“Now that Max has made your relationship public, it looks like he really has no intention of divorcing you,” Ava said, her anger flaring. Living with a man like that for the rest of her life would be torture for any woman. “He really does whatever he wants, without any consideration for whether you agree, Felicia.”
Colton looked at his daughter’s exhausted face, his own filled with concern. “Felicia, why don’t you go upstairs and get some rest? We can talk about everything else later.”
After Felicia went upstairs, Colton’s phone buzzed. He picked it up and saw the caller ID. It was Darin.
“Darin.”

The readers' comments on the novel: The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max)
Nothing today...
The story starting to feel dragged out. Nothing much is happening anymore and Felicia and Max are getting kinda boring.. it’s just the same cycle over and over again...
I used to like this story but now it draaaaags :( Now it seems like all characters are problematic and toxic (yes, ALL characters). Wish the author will give some warmth/emotion in this story. 700+ chapters and still no highlight, no exciting part, just pure coldness and expressionlessness lol...
Max and felicia really need to figure things out. Either humble max down and get him to respect his wife. Or let felicia be a free woman. Max is so ignorant and egomaniac...
I've reached chapter 104 with a broken heart huhuuhu. This is so heavy, so sad. I know the chapters onwards will be more lighter. Can't wait for the pay back time....
When will this novel get an end It's dragging so much. Just kill max asap. How much should felicia bare. Give her freedom from that max and anne. Anne is so annoying child. I know she wants to patch up her mother and father. But sometimes it's really boring.please finish the novel soon. Everyday we have to check for the chapter updates. For God sake finish it off. How many more chapters are there . You could have make the novel short and sweet. I wish if it was in theatre we could have finish it soon....
I am waiting for the update, thank you uploader we reader enjoying the story...
Finally! The robot Max is turning into a human....
