The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 695

Half an hour later, the car pulled smoothly into the underground parking garage.

After they got out, Anne held her father’s hand, skipping happily along the whole way, her face beaming with joy.

They took the elevator upstairs.

A maid saw them and came forward to greet them. “Mr. Hawthorne, you’re back.”

Max gave a slight nod and instructed the maid to take Anne to change her clothes. The maid agreed, but then opened her mouth as if to say something more, only to hesitate and fall silent.

Max noticed her strange behavior. “Is something wrong?”

“A young lady is staying here,” the maid quickly explained. “Ms. Ross arranged for her to come a few days ago.”

At her words, Max’s eyes darkened. The maid’s heart skipped a beat.

“Where is she?” he asked.

“She’s in the backyard right now,” the maid replied.

“Take Anne upstairs first.”

“Yes, sir.”

Anne looked at her father curiously. “What’s wrong, Daddy? Do we have a guest?”

Max’s tone softened. “Anne, go upstairs first.”

Anne nodded. “Oh.”

The maid led Anne upstairs to her room.

Max went to the backyard.

There, a figure in a blue dress sat on a swing, swaying gently. Her long, golden hair shimmered in the sunlight. With the spring breeze stirring her hair and skirt, surrounded by blooming flowers, she was so beautiful she seemed otherworldly, like a fairy who had wandered into the mortal realm.

He had still been in Northwick.

Olisha watched his expression, twisting her fingers, at a complete loss. “Um, my father…”

Before she could finish, the phone in Max’s pocket began to vibrate.

He pulled it out and looked at the caller ID. It was none other than Olisha’s father.

Max answered the call, his tone polite. “Mr. Freeman.”

After a few pleasantries, Mr. Freeman chuckled. “Olisha is with you now. She doesn’t know anyone there, so I’ll have to trouble you to look after her, Max. Once she’s gotten this out of her system, I’ll have someone bring her back.”

Max’s lips curved into a smile, but his eyes were completely devoid of warmth. “Since it’s a request from you, of course, I’ll take good care of her.”

“With you saying that, Max, I can rest assured leaving Olisha with you.”
