That morning, Felicia received a call from Ava asking if she had time to come home for dinner that evening.
She agreed, saying, "Yes, I'll be there."
It had indeed been a while since she last visited her family.
That evening, she originally planned to take Anne back to the Ross family estate. However, when Tommy arrived at the preschool, Anne was nowhere to be found. He learned from the teacher that Anne had just been picked up by bodyguards and taken home. The staff had been secretly puzzled, wondering why the child's parents did not communicate with each other about pickup arrangements.
"I'll go to the Oakridge Estate to pick up Anne then," Tommy offered over the phone.
Felicia hummed in agreement.
She had just hung up the phone when Jeremy knocked on the door and walked in. "Working late tonight?" he asked.
"I shouldn't have to stay late today," Felicia replied. "Is something wrong?"
"Did you know that your brother and Brock had a falling out?" Jeremy asked.
Greg had mentioned the company trouble to her before, but she did not know the exact details. Hearing Jeremy bring it up, she figured the situation was likely not good.
Jeremy continued speaking. "We found out that the person behind Brock is Trey. He wants to use Brock to bring your brother down. Heather somehow found out about this. She must have confronted Trey, and she probably isn't in a good state of mind right now. I brought Yara back to the office for the time being. Can you take Yara back to the Oakridge Estate after you get off work? I have some business to attend to tonight, but I'll rush back as soon as I'm done."
Felicia frowned. Trey doing this made it painfully obvious that he did not want Heather to remarry. It was exactly the kind of thing a lunatic like Trey would do.
"Alright," she agreed.
After Jeremy left, Felicia called Tommy back and told him to cancel the trip to pick up Anne. She got off work early.
On the drive back, Yara's mood remained terribly low.
"Yara, what is wrong?" Felicia asked gently.
Yara looked at Felicia with red, teary eyes. "Why can't Mommy and Daddy get back together?" she asked miserably.
Felicia felt a sharp pang in her heart. She reached over and pulled Yara into a tight hug. "Even if Mommy and Daddy can't be together, they both love you very much."
Yara was still so young. She only knew that her parents were separated and could not live together, but she could not understand why adults had to get divorced.
Yara suddenly choked back a sob. "But I don't want Mommy and Daddy to be apart. I don't want to see them fight. I just want them to be like you and Uncle Max. I'm jealous that Anne has her mommy and daddy with her. Anne said her mommy and daddy will always be there as she grows up."
Every word Yara spoke felt like a needle piercing Felicia's heart, leaving behind a pulsing ache. She held Yara tightly in her arms, doing her best to soothe the little girl.
Yara leaned against Felicia's chest. Traffic was heavy on the way back, and the car crawled along slowly. Before long, Yara drifted off to sleep, a teardrop still clinging to the corner of her eye.
Felicia reached out and gently wiped the tear away. Yara's heartbroken expression made Felicia feel as though a heavy boulder was crushing her chest.
They finally arrived at the Oakridge Estate.
Felicia carried the sleeping Yara out of the car and took the elevator upstairs.
Heather was about to reply when Felicia heard Trey's voice echoing through the phone. "Heather."
"Where did you agree to meet?" Felicia quickly demanded.
Heather gave her the address.
"I'm coming over right now," Felicia said.
She hung up the phone and turned to the nanny. "Take good care of Yara."
"Of course."
Felicia hurried out the door and headed downstairs, dialing Jeremy's number on the way.
The first call went to voicemail. She figured it was inconvenient for him to answer right then. It wasn't until ten minutes later that Jeremy finally called her back.
"Felicia, what is wrong?"
"Trey asked Heather to meet," Felicia explained. "They are at a private club on East River Road. I'm on my way there now. I'll arrive in ten minutes."
Upon hearing this, Jeremy's expression must have darkened. "I'll call Heather first," he said firmly.
"Alright," Felicia replied.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max)
Is this coming to an end...
Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
The writer did a big one with Jeremy's speech to Max. He said almost everything that needed to be said. I have wanted Felicia or someone who knows the past to just tell that whole stinking family what they did and how disgusting they are and what they're doing now how unfair it all is to Felicia. A pity it was only Max but he really needed to hear this (plus more)....
I love the chase of this novel, how you’ve build each of the characters. They almost seem like real. I feel like I know them irl. But however I would like to know what’s max’s pov and what’s going on in his head. I truly believe max’s just a grey character. And also please please please update more!!!...
I was really hoping that Max and Felicia would end up together, but why did Max do that to Felicia? 😭 Is that his way of making Felicia overcome the trauma Holden caused her? I don't think that's helping at all. I just hope Max's character has some redeeming qualities in the coming chapters....
