Felicia's fingers stiffened slightly. Anne was beaming up at her mother with a bright smile. Felicia's heart sank just a fraction before she slowly raised her hand toward the man.

Max reached out, his large hand warmly enveloping her slender fingers. He slowly slid the ring onto her finger. The fit was absolutely perfect.

Anne cheered with excitement. "It looks so pretty. Mommy's hand looks even more beautiful with the ring on."

Felicia looked at her daughter, at a total loss for words for a moment. "You just have wonderful taste."

"Mommy, hurry and help Daddy try his on."

Seeing his cue, the manager immediately picked up the jewelry box with both hands and presented it to Felicia. She pulled out the matching men's band nestled inside and lifted her eyes to look at Max.

Max's intense gaze was already fixed on her. He lifted his hand and offered it to her. Felicia lightly supported his large palm with one hand. The soft touch of her fingertips sent an instant, subtle thrill across his skin. She did not hold his hand fully, simply guiding the ring as she slid it onto his ring finger.

Max's lips curved into a genuine smile. "So we will take this pair?"

Anne nodded eagerly in agreement.

"Do you want to look at anything else?" he asked.

"Yes."

The staff quickly brought over a selection of other fine jewelry pieces. There were emeralds, pearls, crystals, and diamonds, all representing the highest tier of luxury currently available in the boutique.

"Daddy, this necklace is perfect for Mommy. You should put it on her."

Anne immediately shook her head. "Of course not. You are the most beautiful person in the whole wide world to me. No one can compare."

Felicia's gaze softened with affection. Before she could speak, Anne suddenly spun around to look at her father. "Daddy, isn't Mommy the most beautiful?"

Felicia's expression instantly froze.

Then came the man's deep, gentle voice. "Of course your mother is the most beautiful."
