The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 797

Darin offered a soft hum of confirmation. "I will be heading back to the Capital in a couple of days."

"Alright, I will see you when you get back," Felicia said, her voice laced with anticipation.

Hearing that hopefulness in her tone only made Darin's heart ache more. He forced a lightness into his voice. "Okay."

After ending the call, Felicia dialed Anne's number. It connected quickly.

"Anne."

"It is me."

Felicia's expression darkened the moment she recognized Tatiana's voice. Tatiana was looking after Anne at the old estate today. Felicia remained completely silent.

Tatiana's strict, biting tone came through the speaker. "Felicia, whether you are truly sick or just faking it, I am warning you to drop these pathetic little schemes of yours. Anne is not a tool for you to manipulate Max. He owes you absolutely nothing. Stop acting like some tragic victim whom the whole world has failed. I can see exactly what you are trying to do. You had better behave yourself. If you dare cause Anne or Max the slightest bit of harm, I will not let you get away with it."

In the past, Tatiana had merely despised Felicia for her background and appearance. Now, that disdain had morphed into pure hatred. Felicia's drama was deeply affecting Anne's emotional state, and Max had even dropped everything at work to take Felicia to Australia for treatment. How could her proud son lower himself to dote on a woman like her? A woman who belonged nowhere near their family. After everything that had happened, Tatiana's greatest fear was that Max had genuinely fallen in love with her.

Listening to Tatiana's harsh warning, Felicia's grip on her phone tightened dramatically. Without waiting for a response, Tatiana simply hung up.

After helping Yara wash up, Heather emerged from the bathroom and noticed Felicia sitting frozen on the sofa. Spotting her troubled expression instantly, Heather rushed over.

"Felicia, what is going on?" she asked with deep concern.

Felicia quickly masked her emotions, looking up with a tight smile. "It is nothing."

But Felicia's emotions were far too raw these days; she could not hide them at all. Heather sat down next to her and gently took her hand.

"Go ahead, I will take good care of him," Colton promised.

Greg took the wheel, and the three of them set off. The two and a half hour drive put them in Hartford around noon. They grabbed a quick lunch before heading to the clinic, which was packed with people who had traveled far and wide to see the famous doctor. Thanks to the money Ava had paid to secure a premium slot, they bypassed the long line.

Ava accompanied Felicia into the consultation room, where Dr. Chelsea checked her pulse. He concluded that Felicia was suffering from severe emotional stagnation and a depletion of vital energy in her heart and spleen, which caused her poor sleep and frequent nightmares. He performed a treatment on the spot and prescribed five days of medicine to start regulating her system.

After the treatment, Felicia wasn't sure if it was a placebo effect, but her nerves felt significantly more relaxed, and the heavy fog in her head seemed to lift slightly. However, she would need continuous sessions. Since Ava could not conveniently stay in Hartford because of baby Sean, they decided to book a hotel for the night so Felicia could receive one more treatment the next day.

Greg had an important meeting back in the Capital the following morning, so he had to leave. Luke volunteered to stay behind and promised to have a driver pick them up the next day. After everything was settled, Greg dropped them off at a hotel in the city center before driving back to the Capital.

After dinner, Felicia received a call from Jeremy and updated him on her situation. When Jeremy hung up, he felt a sense of relief knowing she was surrounded by family. Her current state was undeniably much better than it had been two years ago.

Later that evening, Felicia desperately wanted to check in on Anne. She missed her daughter terribly. However, since Anne was likely still with Tatiana and Max was probably busy with work, she gripped her phone, hesitating over whether she should call Max to ask about her.
