The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 799

Felicia saw no reason to hide it. "Max."

Ava's expression darkened slightly. "He called you?"

"I called him to check on Anne," Felicia explained.

"Why not just call Anne directly?"

"She is with her grandmother right now."

Ava immediately understood the situation. The Hawthorne family was undoubtedly furious with Felicia by now and likely hoping Max would divorce her as soon as possible. They definitely knew Max had taken her to Australia, and learning about her mental health struggles would only deepen their disdain for her. Even if Max was refusing a divorce right now, a marriage like theirs could not possibly last much longer. She decided not to press the issue.

"Just finish your medicine," Ava urged gently.

Felicia stared down at the pitch black liquid, her stomach churning violently before she even took a sip. But she had no choice. She lifted the cup and gulped it down. Halfway through, she nearly gagged. Ava quickly handed her a glass of warm water and rubbed her back soothingly.

"Just bear with it, it will be over soon."

When Felicia finally managed to finish the bitter brew, Ava gave her a piece of candy to suck on. Once her stomach settled, Felicia looked up pleadingly.

Luke's face tightened. "Daniel, I am not going on a blind date."

"Luke, I am trying to talk to you reasonably, but you refuse to listen. I thought you understood the situation, but clearly, you do not. If you do not go on this date, I will have my wife contact Felicia directly to have a serious talk about you." Daniel's tone left absolutely no room for negotiation.

"Daniel!" Luke gripped his phone, his chest heaving with intense emotion. He did not know how to argue back, only feeling a suffocating ache in his heart.

Did he not know the truth himself? The moment Felicia and Max registered their marriage, any chance between them was completely destroyed. Sometimes, he genuinely did not know what he was holding on to. But watching her suffer through so much heartbreak over the years made it impossible for him to just stand by. There was not a single second he did not deeply regret just watching her secretly pine after Max. If only he had been brave enough to pursue her back then, maybe she would have accepted him, and everything would have been beautifully different.

Met with silence on the other end, Daniel softened his tone. "Luke, I am not trying to force your hand. I just cannot stand watching you throw your life away like this, and Mom is incredibly worried about you."
