The Unwanted Wife's Return (Ex-Husband Wants Me Back) novel Chapter 38

The Truth I Can’t Tell

HANNAH’S POV:

THAT DAY:

“Are you sure you’re okay?” Lucas asked for the tenth time today.

“And for the thousandth time today, I’m good. How are you? How is the conference going?” I changed the conversation knowing he would ask again why I decided not to go to the office today.

But like I had answered him earlier, I needed time to think and make a plan. Plus since he was at a conference all the way in another state which was about thirty minutes drive from here, I was going to meet with the owner of the fabric company to discuss the cost of rate and try to beat it down for our benefit as it had to come to our notice that we were overpaying.

Meanwhile I had spent the morning with my beautiful babies, and I was currently with them at the park. The meeting was at 1, so I still had about three hours left to get dressed as I already prepared key notes to discuss. After the meeting, I was going to head to the company, because I had new designs to share with the team, and I also needed to review the sales rate, and discuss with our head of public relations as well as my personal manager on taking interviews and other publicity schemes that had been proposed to me.

My personal manager, Vivian, who was also my book manager, I had been skeptical about calling because I knew she was going to hassle me when the next book was coming out but I wasn’t ready for that. However I needed her for her opinions on every single interview I have to do and who the interview was going to be with.

“I’m just so tired. I need them to wrap this up!” Lucas responded through gritted teeth, making me cackle.

“Anyways, just let me know how the meeting goes, if I’m done here early, I will join you.” He added and I nodded pushing the kids on the swings.

“Alright. Try and be insightful there, you are a role model to so many.” I said in a playful tone but I was serious.

I just knew he rolled his eyes in a full circle by the way he simply said ‘bye’ and laughed off the phone.

“Mommy?” Amelia’s small hand tugged on the hem of my blouse. We were at the park, the autumn sun painting everything in gold, the twins on the swings I had been gently pushing for the past fifteen minutes.

“Yes, love?” I answered, crouching so my eyes met hers.

She glanced at Andrew for a second and as if he gave the go ahead with his little nod. Her voice was quiet and hesitant. “Why don’t we have a daddy?”

The question hit me like a brick to the chest. My grip on the swing chains tightened as my heart beat raced. Andrew’s curious gaze turned toward me too, his dark shades sliding down the bridge of his nose so I could see the unspoken question in his brown eyes.
