The Unwanted Wife's Return (Ex-Husband Wants Me Back) novel Chapter 392

MARY’S POV:

The sharp, accusing words lingered heavily in the cold air of the room, leaving a deep and uncomfortable silence in their wake.

“Wait, is that Vesper? So she never actually got married? She just became someone’s mistress and brought his wife right along to the hospital?”

The loud question seemed to bounce off the thin walls of the private hospital room, settling over all of us like a heavy blanket. I stood back and watched the immediate reaction spread across every single face in the space. The young man who had blurted it out was practically buzzing with excitement. He had his mobile phone held up high in his right hand, his eyes locked onto Vesper as if he had just stumbled upon a massive pot of gold. Outside in the hallway, the small crowd of onlookers pressed themselves even closer to the open doorway, their personal shame completely forgotten in their rush to see a real scandal

unfold.

I watched Vesper’s face transform in real time.

For one short second, her carefully practiced look of sweet helplessness slipped away, showing a glimpse of something raw, angry, and deeply panicked underneath. Her dark eyes went wide, her lips parted in shock, and her entire upper body went stiff as a board. For a tiny fraction of a second, the real Vesper showed her face, the calculated woman who had been pulling strings behind the scenes for months. But just as fast as it appeared, the ugly look vanished, replaced by her usual expression of soft,

wounded innocence.

“What are you talking about?” she asked in a small, trembling voice, clutching the blanket up to her chin.” I just had a bad accident and got hurt. Please, you need to respect my privacy…”

The guy who had called out her name did not care about her privacy at all. He was quite young, looking like he was barely out of high school, and his cheeks were bright red from the thrill of the moment. Without asking for permission, he took three long, confident steps right into the middle of the room. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and ripped jeans, and his hair was dyed a bright, artificial shade of blue. He looked like someone who had just walked into the building by pure luck and realized he had hit the jackpot.

“Attention all Vesperians, you are going to want to thank me for this later!” he yelled at the top of his lungs, his loud voice echoing straight out into the corridor. “Today I have got a massive piece of news for everyone! The woman you all worship like a sweet angel is actually a fake who sleeps with a married man! She went out and got herself someone else’s husband, and then she was brave enough to bring his actual wife right here to her bedside!”

He shoved his phone camera directly toward Vesper’s pale face and tapped the screen to start a live

stream.

Seeing him do it, the other people standing in the doorway immediately pulled out their own devices and started recording as well. Within seconds, a dozen small red recording lights were blinking in the dim

room, dark screens glowing brightly with incoming comments and heart icons as the video began spreading across the internet. The young man’s screen was moving so fast with typing that the text became an unreadable blur of motion.

Vesper let out a sharp, high-pitched scream.

It was a real scream this time and not part of her usual act. It was a raw, terrified sound coming straight from her throat. Her hands flew up to cover her face, her shoulders shaking violently as her breathing turned short and ragged. She grabbed one of the white hospital pillows and buried her face deep into the cotton, her knuckles turning white as she squeezed the fabric like a lifeline.

Alistair finally moved into action.

He rushed across the small room with a dark, furious look on his face. I watched his large hand slam down over the young man’s phone, his fingers gripping the plastic case with enough force to snap it. He ripped the device right out of the teenager’s hands, turned his body, and threw it down onto the hard floor with all his strength. The glass screen shattered with a loud crunch, sending tiny black and clear fragments skittering across the floor tiles.

“Get the hell out!” Alistair roared, his voice sounding raspy and totally out of control. “All of you! Get out

of this room right now!”

It was far too late for damage control.
