HANNAH’S POV:

THAT WEEKEND:

“The kids and I are headed to the amusement park and we will be back later.” I informed Elijah stepping into his home office and he quickly darted his eyes to me.

We were already dressed and ready to explore the city. The twins were both in denim pants and short handed jacket. They were so impressed by their outfit, they had requested I took pictures and sent them to Lucas and Maya. They were also excited to be going to the amusement park I used to go to when I was younger and I couldn’t wait to take them on all the rides. I also planned to enjoy myself, enjoying the cotton candy and trying all the rides, as a way to heal my inner child who was restricted while Janet had fun.

Everything I think of how mean my parents were towards me, I get so mad at myself for not running earlier but thinking about it, if I had left earlier, then I wouldn’t have been blessed with my two treasures.

“Alright…let me just finish this up and–”

He was still speaking rising to his feet when I cut him off and said, “I just want to spend times with my kids and they really don’t want youu there.”

I could see the hurt flash through his eyes and he nodded slowly, taking his seat right back. “Alright… you can take the..black card.”

“Not needed. I make money too.” I said about to leave and I heard him let out a deep breath, “I know that. Just didn’t watch you to have to—”

I cut him off again but this time just shutting the door and exhaling deeply. I got back here early this morning, after staying in one of my condos, since I had come to the conclusion that staying here was giving Elijah the wrong idea, especially after the moment we shared in the office. I leaned against it for a second, breathing in the silence. It had been only a few days since that late night in my office he’d shown up with food, when he’d made me laugh again, when we’d almost kissed.
