The Verdict on My Husband the Judge: GUILTY novel Chapter 13

The curtain pulled back, and Julian’s eyes lit up the moment he saw me.

He stood and walked over, his gaze soft and adoring.

I fidgeted with my veil, my cheeks flushing under his stare.

Do I look okay?

Brynn, you’re beautiful than anyone.

Julian’s throat bobbed as his burning gaze seemed to see straight through me.

I ordered this dress a while ago. I knew it’d be perfect for you.

I pressed my lips together and turned to the sales associate with a smile.

We’ll take this one.

By the time we left the bridal shop, it was already dark. Julian and I walked back to his nearby house.

November air was getting cold. The wind hit my bare shoulders, and I couldn’t help but shiver.

A second later, a warm jacket draped over my shoulders.

You don’t have to-

Keep it. I’m too warm anyway.

Julian cut off my refusal and glanced at his watch.

I had my housekeeper prepare some food. Let’s head back and eat something simple. You came straight from the airport to try on dressesI’m sure you’re starving.

I nodded obediently.

But the moment we got to the house, I was stunnedthe entire yard filled with irises.

I turned to him, a little surprised.

This is?

Your profile picture’s an iris field. So I filled the garden with them.

Julian smiled faintly and led me inside by the wrist.

The interior was even more perfectly suited to my taste.

Warmtoned furniture. Lattecolored sheer curtains. A balcony extending from the third floor.

Julian and I had only been classmates abroad for six months. Yet somehow, we clicked.

Sitting at the dining table, I couldn’t help but marvel.

Even more surprisingthe simple soup and two dishes were exactly to my liking.

That night, Julian and I slept in separate bedrooms.

Lying in the unfamiliar bed, I got a text from him.

[You must be tired today. Get some rest.]

Warmth spread through my chest. I replied:

[You too. Don’t you have work tomorrow?]

After saying goodnight, a message popped up from Wes.

[Not home?]

Guess he and Stella were back from their trip.

I didn’t reply. Instead, I opened Stella’s IG.

They’d hung a love lock at the highest point in Tromsø. It said they’d never be apart.

Her caption read:

[I’m willing to stay by your side as your sister forever. I don’t care who else is around you. I love you.]

Wes had liked the post.

He probably thought Stella had blocked me. Or maybe he just figured I was too lovesick to cause any trouble.

After all, these past three years, no matter how much he hurt me, I never thought about leaving.

Even during our cold wars, I was always the one who caved first.

I laughed bitterly at myself.

My love and onesided devotion made him so confidentconfident that even if I noticed something, he didn’t

believe I’d actually leave him.

I turned off my phone.

For the first time, I left Wes’s message unanswered.

The next day, Julian rushed off to work, and I offered to pick him up from the office that evening.

Something flickered in his eyessurprise, maybe. I wasn’t sure.

That evening, I showed up at his company as promised.

But the moment I pushed open the door, I was met with a path lined with flowers and elegant decorations.

My heart skipped a beat as Julian slowly emerged from the dimly lit office.

He knelt on one knee, his expression serious.

Brynn, maybe you agreed to marry me just to escape. But I truly love you. Please give me a chance to treat you right. Marry me.

Logic told me his deep feelings for someone he hadn’t seen in two years

But looking at his reddening eyes, I found myself believing him anyway.

I reached out my hand and said softly:

nake sense.

Yes. I will.

The moment the words left my lips, fireworks exploded outside the massive floortoceiling windows, lighting up

night sky.

Julian handled everything perfectly. The wedding was held in a chapel, and he’d invited both our families and

friends.

Looking at the man in front of me, I felt an unexpected sense of peace.

Ms. Brynn Winter, do you take Mr. Julian Cross to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, as long as you both shall live?

I do.

The bride and groom may now exchange rings and seal your covenant of love.

Julian slowly slid the ring onto my finger.

I object to this marriage!
