The Verdict on My Husband the Judge: GUILTY novel Chapter 48

Chapter 8

Richard’s cane blow completely destroys Connor’s defenses.

It also shatters all of Sarah’s fantasies.

Sarah stares at Connor, then at Richard, completely lost about how things went to shit this fast.

Richard doesn’t spare Connor another glance.

He turns to his assistant, voice like ice.

Investigate.

Find out exactly how this woman became manager.

Who gave her the authority to destroy guest key cards.

Who gave her the balls to attack my daughterinlaw.

And who called these street thugs here.

Every detail. I want answers.

Yes, Chairman. The assistant immediately starts making calls.

Sarah collapses on the floor, face like death.

She knows she’s finished.

Richard looks at Razor’s crew.

Call the police.

Tell them we have gang members causing chaos at Blackwood Hotel, threatening guests with violence.

Have them all arrested. Full investigation.

Razor loses his shit, crawling and begging.

Please, sir! We were just following orders!

It was HER! That woman called us!

He points at Sarah, throwing her under the bus without hesitation.

Chapter 8

Sarah starts shaking like a leaf.

Richard doesn’t even look at them.

He walks over to me, voice suddenly gentle.

Emma, I’m sorry you went through this.

He glances at the military medal in my hand, then at Jake.

This must be Jake. All grown up, handsome young man.

Stay as long as you want this time. Keep your sister company.

He turns back, gives Connor one final look.

Connor. Upstairs. Now.

He heads toward the elevator with his cane.

Connor looks at Sarah on the floor, then at me.

Finally, he follows his father with his head down.

Like a prisoner awaiting execution.

Police and paramedics flood the lobby.

Razor’s crew gets hauled away.

Two security guards drag Sarah off. Legal trouble and corporate punishment waiting for her.

The shitshow’s finally over.

I watch Connor disappear into the elevator, feeling completely hollow inside.

Ten years of marriage. Gone in one night.

Turned out to be fragile as glass.

Once the adrenaline fades, dizziness hits me like a truck.

Everything goes black as I collapse backward.

Emma!

That’s the last thing I hear.
