Chapter 2
Plummeting toward the abyss, I was filled with despair, sured was going to fall to my death.
But one of the bungee cords kicked in at the last second, bouncing me up and down several times.
After enduring that agonizing free fall and absolute terror, Iwas left hanging in midair.
Between the blood rushing to my head and the endless void below, my body was at its breaking point.
Griffin’s commanding voice echoed down.
“Get my wife up here now! She has severe acrophobia!”
I felt a tug on the rope as I was slowly pulled back up.
But just as I got close to the platform, I heard a tearful scream from nearby,
“My head is killing me–Mr. Caldwell, I’m dying right now?
The rope suddenly went slack and I plummeted down again.
I couldn’t make a sound, forced to experience that near–death free–fall all over again.
Griffin was staring at Juniper’s pained face, looking frantic)
“What’s your status?”
Hanging in midair, Juniper whimpered, “I have this genetic thingy–I’m not supposed to do scary sports stuff!”
Griffin’s voice carried sharp authority. “That’s critical medical information! Why wasn’t this disclosed during pre–activity screening?”
Juniper said stubbornly, “I just wanted to prove I’m not totally useless! Like, if a vegetable person can do it, why
can’t I?”
Her words made Griffin freeze before he shouted at the staff
“Priority extraction for Juniper! Move your asses!”
But the staff looked helpless. “Mr. Caldwell, Miss Wilde initiated an unsupervised jump. Current crew capacity only allows sequential recovery operations.”
The air seemed to freeze.

Chapter 2
After a brief pause, Griffin gritted his teeth.
“Execute recovery protocol for my wife first…”
I’d been hanging in the air for almost ten minutes,
After two overloaded bounces, the bungee cord started making soft tearing sounds.
Juniper’s voice suddenly rang out, drowning out the sound of the rope breaking
“Griffin! I’m totally in love with you! I know once your wife gets better, you won’t want me around anymore. You don’t have to remember me when I’m gone–just remember that i was brave today, okay?
Hearing her clumsy confession, Griffin’s hand trembled as he muttered in frustration.
“Goddammit, why does she have to make a dumb confession now?”
Juniper’s voice got weaker and weaker.
Seeing Griffin’s expression, all the staff were torn, whispering:
“Mr. Caldwell, Mrs. Caldwell’s been suspended for over ten minutes–we’re approaching critical exposure limits.”
“Seraphina’s survival statistics are exceptional,” Griffin mumbled, like he was running calculations.
“Previous near–death incident resulted in full recovery. Current equipment integrity appears stable.”
As soon as he said it, Griffin finally made his decision.
“Redirect all resources to Juniper! Execute immediate extraction!”
Hearing Griffin’s choice, my heart felt like it was being crushed and thrown into an icebox.
Griffin’s parents died young, leaving him all alone. I stood by him every step of the way to get where he is.
When he said he wanted a family, I risked my life trying to give him a child, only to lose consciousness during childbirth complications and spend three years in a coma.
For three years, Griffin spent most of his time with me, taking care of every little thing
I thought I’d chosen the right guy…
Watching Juniper get carefully pulled up bit by bit, the rage churning inside me turned into an intense will to
survive.
No, I can’t die here.
